Am I missing something? I wanted to get the new Death Guard, but I'm struggling on why?
As I see it Terminators are better than Blightbringers.

Can someone with better insight please let me know which is better and if it's even worth buying the new Death guard boxsets?

They currently suck, but hopefully the codex will bring them up to power.

But don't hold your breath; geederps have hated on CSM for, oh, a decade or so.

A Blightbringer is a single character and not anything to do with terminators. He acts as a transport of sorts.
Terminators will be coming soon for us, as we've seen a teaser image of one.

I'm having a pretty epic run with my DI box set Death Guard army so far, but that might just be the luck of the dice. Lord of Contagion is amazing, Bloat-drone is tanky as all hell, Blightbringer gets your dudes moving a bit quicker, Plaguecaster is the hidden gem that mortal wounds everything to death and debuffs your opponent to glorious effect, Plague Marines feel a little lack lustre but end up doing more than I think and pox walkers do a good job at tying up enemy units, either wasting their shooting phase or getting tied up in melee.
Can't wait for the later releases if it keeps up the trend of how the army already fights.

I'll wait to see what kind of battle reports come out in the future.

Is it 100% that codex's are going to come out or is that speculation?

GW have stated that codecies will be a thing. We just don't know when they'll be coming out. Could be months before even the first. But Death Guard and Primaris will almost certainly be getting the first ones when they start releasing them

I apologize, I just got back into 40K from a 6 year break!

So, It looks like the death guard is worth getting. Considering you get special characters with them.

Haha no worries, I keep finding new rules I've missed every day.

I'd say they're totally worth getting if you like the faction, simply for the amazing figures. And the army seems to perform pretty well overall. With some heavy support (fingers crossed for a Death Guard Vindicator) and the addition of terminators and Mortarion soon, I think they'll end up as quite a strong faction.
It's surprising how much Disgustingly Resilient pays off. My Lord of Contagion has died only once in the 5 games I've played him in and the fact it can save against even mortal wounds makes it (technically) the most defensive save roll in the game.
The starter army is only around 800-ish points, but I've been playing against 1000pt lists and winning, even though the DG seem to be pretty meh on paper
