Hi guys,

Fairly basic question here but as the title suggests I'd really appreciate some help basing my High Warden. So basically what I have is the model itself with a hole in the underside. I also have the transparent plastic cylinder thing that holds the model up in the air and fits into the bottom of the model at one end. What I'm struggling with is how to attach the transparent plastic cylinder to the large oval plastic base that's supplied. Can anyone suggest a beginner-friendly way to do this? I was wondering if I needed to make a hole in the base and push the transparent plastic cylinder through it somehow? Or is there something else I can buy that would do an easier and better job?

Cheers!!

That is certainly the easiest way to do it, make a hole in the base then secure the stand on the underside with some superglue or ideally green stuff/other modelling putty to hold it in place. You'll notice the plastic rod has a thin peg on each end; as you've identified, the one at the thin end goes into the model, the other will go into the base.

Oh, and welcome to Dakka!

Do not glue the flight stand (clear thing) to the model, or the base - drill a hole for the bottom of the flight peg in the base. You can enlarge the hole from a pin hole (from a vice etc) by putting the end of your knife in and twisting. Make the hole only just big enough so it's a nice snug fit.

Only glue the flight stand when complete. Superglue can 'frost' clear parts sometimes, and it's not the strongest, so I'd suggest an 5 minute clear epoxy adhesive (araldite etc) to glue the peg to the base (apply the glue very thinly around the peg bottom and then smear it over the bottom of the join (underneath the base) to reinforce it.

Thanks for the welcome and the responses chaps, much appreciated. Never built a model that big or a flyer before so tips very welcome.
