Hi,

After some Dark Eldar advice....

The wife wants to know what she should add to her army to defeat my adeptus mechanicus. (We are both new), she currently has;

1 archeon
2 raiders
31 kabalite warriors
3 reavers
2 venoms
5 scourges

Cheers

Ravagers are one of the better buys. Both flyers are good.

This is good advice.

Also, depends on how the stuff she has is kitted out. I find that Blaster Scourges (5 dudes, with 4 blasters) works best for me as an alpha strike unit. I think reavers should be taken in units of 6 (again with blasters).

There's lots of great stuff in the book. I like Talos for something to absorb fire, while being a threat.

a Voidraven Bomber would be a pretty solid add, because one of the more problematic things for the dark eldar to deal with in the Admech lineup is the robots, which as a unit of monstrous creatures take triple damage from its Void Mine bomb attack. It's also a good source of anti tank firepower, which you basically always want to add to Dark Eldar lists. The only instance where I wouldn't recommend it is if you run a lot of Icarus array Onager tanks, which counter the raven really hard.

It seems she has a very infantry-heavy list right now, which means when adding specialists you should focus on stuff that's dedicated to taking down tanks and heavy targets. Ravager tanks (if you're not crazy sick of Raider chassis), flyers of both kinds, or simply just reorganizing your Kabalite special weapons guys and using them as Trueborn rocking in a venom will all work well.

Have you tried playing any games yet? Is there anything specifically she's having trouble dealing with?

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Omnipotent Necron Overlord

Ravagers
Venoms with trueborns with blasters
both flyers

Those units are good against basically everything in the game.

Thank you for all the replies,

Yea we have had 1 game so far and she struggled against my iccarus array on my dunecrawler (caused a raider to explode) whicg ended the game.

She is quite keen on both the flyers so that could be the next stop and possibly a talos.

Is it worth her adding another hq at this point?

Thanks again

I don't find the HQs to be great (unless you're doing haemonculous stuff, then the +1 Toughness can be handy (but you're wife isn't specialized that way).

That being said, I'd definitely add one, so that she can move up to a Battalion and get more command points.

Other than what was suggested already I'd add some coven stuff. The command points would be nice, bolus I really like the wracks, grotesque, and talos

Gangs of Commorragh is a quick way to bolster your drukhari ranks. Not only do you come away with 6 reavers and 10 hellions (equiv of two boxes of each), but you do so at a fraction of the cost. I've enjoyed both units in 8th so far.

I've found the razorwing to be more versatile thus far as well.

Raiders packed with kabalite warriors is always great.

Drukhari play much closer to their lore now: fast attack. It will take a little trial and error for your wife to get a grasp on how they play. She made a good choice though!!
