‘If at the end of any turn after the first battle round, one
player has no models on the battlefield, the game ends
immediately and their opponent automatically wins a
crushing victory.'

Does that mean you can have only flyers on the battlefield for your turn 1, but by the end of your turn 2 you need to have some models on the ground? I ask because I've built a very fluffy Death Company list that involves 20 death company coming out of two stormravens on turn 2, while 20 other jump pack death company descend down with them. The whole strike is meant to take place on turn 2, but on turn 1, the only units I'll physically have on table will be the two stormravens. Does this work under the new rule?

"Very Fluffy" doesn't include sticking frothing madmen into a tight space.

Sorry bub, but your cheese army is no longer valid for matched play. You need boots on the ground from the start.

No, he doesn't.

Sudden death is very spefically after first battle round. Turn 1 can have 0 boots on the ground/in buildings without a problem.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

I didn't mean literally from the start, I meant he can't leave people out until turn 3 anymore. My bad, I should have worded that better.

It's not turn 3. It's turn 1, two stormravens on the battlefield, beginning of turn 2 forty death company and two stormravens on the battlefield, do I auto-lose on turn 1? It appears the answer is no and I can field the list.

And what is this all about? Cheese army? I want to do an all death company list, they're by the definition of the fluff an assault based force, how is this list not fluffy? It's certainly effective, but it still fits the fluff of death company.

Yeah, you can deploy like this. But if your opponent goes first or seizes then you have to disembark on your first turn or you'll lose at the end of your opponent's second turn.

Correct, but starting the game with only two stormravens on the table, I can't imagine a scenario where I don't go first lol. Seizing is of course the one area where things change. The list is extremely high risk, high reward, if the plan is disrupted, it will be hard to come back, if it goes off, it will be hard to lose.

4 total units.

The 2 units of dropping death company still count as units to set up.

Am I missing something here? Do flyers not count as "on the battlefield" because they are not physically in contact with the ground or something?

Change point 2 to read:
‘If at the end of any turn after the first battle round, one
player has no models on the battlefield, the game ends
immediately and their opponent automatically wins a
crushing victory. When determining if a player has any
units on the battlefield, do not include any units with
the Flyer Battlefield Role – these units cannot operate
within a combat airspace indefinitely and they cannot
hold territory without ground support. Furthermore, do
not include any units with the Fortification Battlefield
Role unless they have a unit embarked inside – even the
most formidable bastion requires a garrison if it is to
pose a threat.’
