So the next model I plan on getting is a Primaris Captain, but I would like to pimp him out a little to make him my home brew chapter master. Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts?

To start with cool shoulder pads. I know Primaris captains have a really limited weapon loadout, but maybe swap the standard power sword for something fancy? A Grey Knight sword or a dark elf curvy sword or something.

If you want to go really nuts one of the things I've tried is replacing the knees/lower legs of a primaris lt. with terminator legs. Tartaros legs seem to be about the right height.

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy.

Does your chapter have any themes going? For example Salamander conversions usually grab some lizard skin cloaks from the Dark Elf line (specifically the Black Ark Raiders) and dragon heads from the Chaos Vehicle sprue.

In terms of generic space marine decoration, there's a bunch of really neat stuff from the Venerable Dreadnought kit that can add a bit of flair to your captain, like purity seals, badges, and those mini shields used for personal heraldry. The Space Marine Command Squad (especially the one with the Solaq Captain) is also great fodder for stuff like scroll cases, Imperial icons (winged skulls, birds, etc) and cool helmets and shoulderpads. If you get the Solaq Captain one, you can even take that helmet for your chapter master (the wings on the face are really cool imo).

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

If you're not to fussed with primaris lore then swap he mk 4 (It will alwats be maximus to me) head for some cool head possibly Mk 3. You could even use some parts from the Masters of the Chapter for cool power sword poses. However, you would then need to switch the hand of the bolt rifle. Alternatively, ( I haven't checked the feasibility of this) is to swap parts from other HQs. I was thinking.

Primaris Apothecary purity seals, legs & backplate
Primaris Captain Leg Plates, Chestplates, helmet, Aquila shoulder pouldron & heavy bolt pistol holder
Primaris Chaplain Backpack & Iron Halo
Masters of the Chapter Power sword

and it would look something like this:

But I do't know what to do about the bolt rifle.

That's a fun enough idea, but... oh man, you're talking about kitbashing $100+ of models for one character.

Ooo thats pretty cool.

Regular SM arms should fit primarus ok.

you could get your hands on a cool power sword. you could swap the back pack with the eagle one

shoulder pad swaps is normal.

special helemt or unhelemeted.

If you want jack the sick iron halo off the chaplain.

The Primaris backpacks are bigger and have a slightly different style to them - I'd suggest if you want to use the Eagle Pack, take some of its distinguishing features, like the eagle heads, off the pack and fit them to the Primaris Pack.

Thanks guys. I like this. I think I might go small, I purchased the model today along with an intercessor squad. I'm going to paint the helmet "mask" white and strap on one of the "shields" from the intercessors (similar to what you find on GKs) somewhere. This works because I plan on having my companies designated by a heraldic symbol (either on the left knee or on their left shin I haven't decided).

Oh I forgot to mention, I also purchased "roaring lion heads" from Popgoesthemonkey.com for my shoulder pads. I have them on my reivers already and they look great. Pics will follow when I have the reivers, master, and intercessors done.
