Hi

Newly returned for 40k after a 15 year break & have no idea what i'm doing.

I want to start a Daemon army & need some direction on where to start & how to expand.

The main Chaos god i want to collect is Nurgle, but i'm also more than happy to run a mixed god force.

Also considering a combined CSM with Word Bearers if that is viable.

10x Plauge bearers
5x Furies
1 Khorne Skull Cannon
FW Demon Prince ( am thinking of converting into a bloodthirster)
2x Tznetch heralds


Was thinking of buying:

Nurgle starter boxes x 2
Demon Prince (nurgle)
Epidemus

Any advice people could give on how to build a solid 8th ed force would be great!

A dual Khorne Nurgle list.
Seems like a good staring point, 2 starter sets + a demon prince & chaos spawn.
No duplicates which i like & lets me use my skull cannon & FW demon prince.

I see a mix of a lot of stuff - not sure on what your play style is or your strategy? In 8th the different daemons appear to have different play styles, Nurgle is very defensive but lack firepower in their troops, a large unit should survive for a while, there is some nice firepower in the bloat-drones; Khorne are your melee and should have the banner for the +1move; Tzeentch can throw out a lot of smite and their flamer units are good; if you're gonna take nurglings don't take just 3, take a larger group or you will probably give them up as first blood; daemon princes are good HQs point wise and heralds for buffs; think about how you would like to play and then build around it? eg do you want a core troops for objectives with some fast attack flankers, or do you prefer the shooting backline with a charging front line? in my experience, generally larger units of lesser daemons is better also; look at your list and think of how you would set it up on the table for deployment; hope this helps a bit
