Hi all,
Since BB is a spin off of this universe, is it possible there exists southern regions with black people? I wanted a couple of blacks in the ranks but wondered if that actually made any sense to do so.

Totally fine. The Olde Worlde had Araby and the Dark Lands (I think, basically Africa) not to mention Yind (India) and I think something for Australia too.
I don't recall them ever fleshing out Fantasy Africa other than 'jungles' and 'lizard men' but certainly there's room for all kinds of civilizations there.

Cheers mate, now I feel justified adding a few in the team, awesome! Thanks for taking the time to answer that for me.

Lol I wanted to know if there was a lore justification for painting them black since the impression I have is that the Empire in general is all white/european types, which would make a black person being there odd or unlikely to occur.

I was thinking they had rules for Pygmies at one point in time.

We don't talk about that.
Imagine something so embarrassingly cliched and racist even GW quietly dropped them.

And yet there's actually parts of the total war community asking for them. (as you can imagine the ensuing arguments pretty much blow out the reddit page.)

So does that mean that we could never have had Cathay as doing obviously Asian models with obviously Asian themes and weaponry would be racist?

Cathay is respectably done, caricature pygmy tribes with bones through their noses and called Og, Thog and Ung is not.
Besides they're from Fantasy South America along with the Amazons. Ind is a far better place to use.

Pygmies were a real thing. On the surface they seem quite racist, but they are really just a form of Tribal Hobbit.
Unfortunately, the same traits that make the Hobbits endearing seem to make Pygmies a repetition of racist media from the last 200(?) years.

That's my point. There is a difference to historical reference and racial stereotyping.

Sure, it is all about context.
I am not sure I understand your sentence in this context though, but I think your previous point might be a reason (sadly) that Creative Assembly will not give us Araby (I hope they do though).
It would be nice (and fitting) if Warhammer had a civilization based on Moorcocks Erekosë, but it is all a bit late now (maybe).
