Have come across this kickstarter ' Worlds Over Run' by Eric Askue.
It is a 3d printable Sci-Fi terrain kickstarter and some of the designs look very good IMO.
The link is: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1878268957/worlds-over-run-3d-printed-table-top-terrain/description
The campaign is funded and is now opening up stretch goals, currently the next stretch goal to be unlocked will be a 'Thorn Hive' (just $11 toits unlocking).

Would love to fund for the bio designs, but have never had anything printed.
Is a printing service for parts of that size affordable ?

It is really good to see that he is offering a print licence to people. Maybe we will see the finished product pop up somewhere for sale in the future (I would rather just buy it than have to get a 3D printer and print it myself).

Moloch / Necron - We have gone in for the 'Licence' so yes we will be able to print these items (as will others who purchase the licence - only 3 left I think), we will add them to our portfolio of prints available.
And the 'Thorn Hive' has unlocked!

Hi Necro - Our website is a pretty pathetic excuse for one at the moment BUT just employing a designer to produce a proper website.
Our site is www.cbr3d.com, it has on some of the PrintableScenery.com models available ATM. The new website should go live hopefully within the month /or at worse by the end of September (you can tell I have had previous experience with website designers and their 'promised' dates. LOL )
Can I just say to those thinking of using a licenced printer (their are 10 of us world wide who seem to have purchased the licences from this kickstarter and of course Glen in Florida who has been given one for helping with the kickstarter by Eric) it may well be to wait for a couple of weeks after the kickstarter ends and we licenced printers get the designs (presumably at exactly the same moment other backers of the kickstarter do) and check for who is local to you, international shipping costs can be horrendous.
( BTW - the above does not mean we will turn business away, far from it. )
Also it may well be that it could be better for you to actually back the kickstarter and see about getting the models printed by a friend or fellow wargamer in your immediate area, that is of course if you do not 3d print yourself or you do not want to buy a 3d printer. By backing the kickstarter more stretch goals will be unlocked and all the backers and the creator wins.
Hope this helps.

Yesterday I was privileged to get a sneak preview of the 'Thorn Hive' which is the next stretch goal unlocking, and are we in for a treat!
Not only that but the following stretch goal will be an associated piece, the 'Mega Maw' (by this time I am sure I was drooling). These look absolutely fantastic IMO, and will they be 'the piece on the table'? You bet they will be.
(I will put up any photos as soon as they are made public.)
Just over nine days left of this kickstarter and whether you back this one or not I think you will be seeing a lot of these pieces on gaming tables very soon.

The first collage of photos of the complete printed ' Thorn Hive' have just been made available, and the model when constructed is 300mm x 300mm x 150mm.
And remember there is yet to be shown the ' Mega Maw' which sits on top of this, and the first print of that is on the printers now, so watch this space.
The link to the kickstarter (which has now less than a week to run) is:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1878268957/worlds-over-run-3d-printed-table-top-terrain/description
(To back for the full set of print designs released in this kickstarter it is just $48.)

Totally agree.
From what I have seen when the 'Mega Maw' is unlocked the whole thing becomes one HUGE piece when put togetherr with the 'Thorn Hive' and 'Bridge' measuring about 500mm x 500mm x 200mm. Now whether your a Tyranid (and others species fan) this is going to be one helluva piece on the table. (Of course you don't need to put it together as one model.)
Now the problem is which colour scheme to go for on the first one printed?
EDIT

Well I have to agree it is HUGE.
For those that have not been checking out the 'comments' section of the kickstarter here is some information about the 'Thorn Hive' and 'Mega Maw' just posted by Eric the creator of the kickstarter.
"The Thorn Hive is one file (split into halves) printed three times. These halves, have alignment pins for glueing. These are so big and have internal spaces so the design has no pins or inter locks across the three holes. This way you and move it in the game and store them with ease. The Mega Maw has an almost identical design but has a crown of teeth and spines so it consists of four, parts printed three times. As the design grows locking ever part becomes over kill, and with future plans to expand some files there are things that should lock and things that shouldn't. quite a few of the parts I've designed are modular for storage, and a lot have simple alignment pins since I saw them being glued together, permanently. But in designing for the type of printer and user it's smarter to cut up some models and have them assembled after. The Thorn is a perfect example of this, with its extreme shapes and undercuts it really was best to make it two halves. I hope this description answers your question clearly. "
Just 17 more backers at the 'collection' pledge level ($48) and the 'Mega Maw' will be unlocked, and just over 4 days to do it.

Just 70 hours to go, and just 12 backers required to get the 'Mega Maw' for the Tyranids.
It is getting soooooo close to unlocking.
Also announced today was this 'teaser' by Eric the creator of the kickstarter in the comments section:-
" There are some pieces that do not show yet. This is because the designs are not finished going through the modeling and sculpting phase."
So what could they be? I really do not know, but it seems that this kickstarter is going to be even better value than I thought.

Into the last 48 hours of this kickstarter, and it looks like the Mega Maw will be unlocked, just $331 to go.
In today's update some more pictures were released of the Thorn Hive with Mega Maw were published.
In the comments Kirk (the creator) confirmed that most of the files are or will be released as soon as kickstarter clears payment (normally about 14 days following the end of the campaign). A few files which are mainly tiles will be released after this as they are being converted to OpenLock (a great decission by Kirk to go with OpenLock).
SO just $331 to go to unlock the remaining stretch goal that will create a piece of Tyranid scenery measuring just under 2 ft in diameter.
As always the link to get aboard this fantastic kickstarter is: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1878268957/worlds-over-run-3d-printed-table-top-terrain/description
(Just bought some Tyranids - my first ones - to go with this kickstarter. )
UPDATE
The ' Mega Maw' is unlocked.

With the ' Mega Maw' well and truly unlocked and with under 24 hours to go here are some photos of the printed ' Thorn Hive with Mega Maw' released today on the kickstarter.
And here are some details about the size of the models when combined:
As said above the kickstarter is into its last day. The 'Worlds over run collection 3D Print File' pledge level at $48 gets you all the files from the kickstarter.

EDIT
This kickstarter closed with 109 backers, $5,253 pledged, and all stretch goals unlocked.
Congratulations to all those who like us got in on this kickstarter.

I was really tempted by this, but since it's .stl files I was really hoping for variants on each tentacle - having repeats on an organic shape like that stands out to me.
Still, that bug terrain is awesome!

@Deathwolf - Eric the creator of the kickstarter says he will be sending the first wave of files as soon as Kickstarter has transferred funds. Given that Kickstarter gives themselves 14 days after the end of fundraising to do this (and taking into account it is on a Friday so add a weekend as well) files hopefully should be with backers including those who purchased the 'licenced printers' pledge by September 25th, then it will be up to the licenced printers to offer them to the public, so I would imagine this will be by the beginning of October at the latest.
I happen to know that there some of the printing licences were taken by backers in the USA (they are fellow licenced printers for PrintableScenery.com, hence the reason I know this) and of course Greg Genung will have a printing licence. So I would imagine by the start of October at the latest you will be able to order them in the US. As for the RoW I know that there are at least 2 of us in the EU (a fellow PS licenced printer in France and ourselves) but I think another licence was snapped up by someone else in the UK as well.
Hope you are able to wait this long. LOL
