By Design: Wanted to make a list that benefits from the Tide of Traitors CSM Stratagem while also throwing down 3 lords of contagion and basically go for a walking dead theme of play aiming to turn as many poor souls into poxwalkers.

Stratagems: Tide of Traitors (CSM), The Dead Walk Again (DG), Vetrans of the Long War (Either), Cloud of Flies (DG)

Combos: Typhus + Poxwalkers + Cultists move in one giant blob making use of TDWA + CoF stratagems to boost zombie horde when cultists get killed.

Mortarion rushes up backed by Bloat Drones aided by the sorcerer and lords of contagion deep striking in. Noxious blight bringer follow each of these comboed units boosting everyone's mobility. The dolourous Knell aids mortarion's squad to get within range quicker.

I like the looks of it. I think a daemon prince as your 2nd HQ would be better, but you've got a theme going, so stick with it.

I would also prefer autoguns on those cultists.

I have a similar list written up I have yet to test. Blob of cultists, 60 pox walkers, Typhus, Prince, and 8 spawn, with a second detachment of 6 oblits, 2 heldrakes, and a jump lord to support them.

Curious to know how yours works out.

It's a shame those Cultists aren't in a Death Guard detachment, as then they could rapid fire autoguns at 18".

I think the -1 to hit and ability to deploy as a further ahead front line (and, heck, turn 1 assault if you want) makes it a fair trade.

I would definitely swap a Lord of Contagion for Necrosius.

I second dropping Lord of contagion. I'd try to make room for a blight-hauler. MAybe swap one of the lords of contagion for a lord in terminator armour for some rerolls.

I also can't see why you would want so many poxwalkers to begin with. when you have 3 poxwalker units, and the enemy wants to clear out some infantry, they can just not target the unit not with "the dead walk again" and when other poxwalkers die, they don't generate more poxwalkers. i would have one or two units of poxwalkers and use the dead walk and cloud of flies on one of them.

Also, isnt it enough with one blightbringer enough? maybe swap it for a blightspawn?

other than that, the list looks really good, and its so cool with horde armies. Let ut know how it does.

okay, so I ran my own Zombie farm today. I had a huge blob of 40 cultists in front of a wave of nids. They managed some petty wounds in shooting 1st turn. Next round, they were charged by Genestealers, and many more pox walkers were created.

Morale wiped the squad because I forgot to auto pass for 2 CPs. But is the pay off worth all the CP investment? 2 more cps to bring them back, plus 2 more CPs for successful Dead will walk and Cloud of flies for the next turn. 6 CPs gone after 2nd turn. My latest list had 7 CP.

Also made me rethink the big blob of 40. Perhaps less Pox walkers, and more starting cultists.

Anyway, just my take away from my game.

EDIT: More thoughts;

My second wave of pox walkers became a speedbump for the genestealers, and a few of them became pox walkers. Hmm, hadnt thought of it but Would I have gotten a pox walker from the unit who made the casualty, and then a pox walker for the Dead Walk unit also? seems like i might!

Theme: Zombies! Halloween cometh! The walking dead is back on. Let's spread the plague!

Strategy: Use of stratagems to hide the zombies behind cultists and force the opponent to either shoot at the cultist thus creating more zombies or shoot at Mortarion and the plague drones that will be the vanguard of the list rushing forward. All characters hide within the Horde (like the Whisperers) Blightbringer makes everyone move faster, Abaddon ensures the cultists dont flee, buffs from psykers and very powerful melee rushign the opponent.
