Subject: Need help picking a colour for my Death Guard

I'm painting up my Death Guard in the old scheme of white armour and green shoulders/backpacks (bronze trims and fleshy-orange for tentacles) and for the life of me I can't find a colour I'm happy with for the material parts that some models have. The Deathshroud's capes or Plague Marine loin cloths for example. Painting them green like the armour looks sort of unfinished, red looks off, purple is too vibrant, blue looks funky.
If anyone had any ideas I'd appreciate the gak out of it, it's driving me a little mental haha.

Are you priming them white, black or grey?
With regards to the purple:
Try using "Screamer Pink" from GW. It's the color they use for the cloaks/cloth on the studio models and it's a red-purple color that you can make a bit more interesting with black, brown, or red washes.

Maybe a darker, mustard-y yellow? GW doesn't really make a paint in that range, though.

I'm using the Zandri Dust primer so that it can enhance the dirty colour just a little in the white and it's also quite close to the green to give that an easy time to paint on. Screamer Pink might work well, Maybe if I wash and highlight it with a purple. Won't be as purple as all the other purples

Yeah if I can find a yellow that matches that, that could look quite good as well
Thanks guys for the replies

Don't use purple...or pink or anything like what GW's done - it's heinous.
Keep it simple, something like Canvas from Vallejo, etc.

Surprisingly, a mustard yellow might be in the cards for you if you're willing to put some effort into it...
XV-88 and Tau Light Ochre might work for that.

Yeah I'm not the biggest fan of purple for Death Guard myself, but it's not as bad as blue and might look alright from screamer pink. But a mustard colour would definitely work better.
The XV-88 and Tau Light Ocre might work well actually, good suggestion. Maybe even Tau Light Ocre ink washed a few times. A wash of Nuln and then Agrax might give a similar affect

Quick placeholder to remind myself that I have a painted example to give you of Screamer Pink, highlighted with Pink Horror, and shaded with coats of Agrax and Nuln. Here you go: The cloak is Screamer Pink, with highlights of Pink Horror on the raised edges/tears. It was washed with Agrax Earthshade, left to get almost to the point of finishing drying and then Nuln Oil was applied to over top of it. You can see how Screamer Pink compares to an actual red with the shot of the Cloak and Shield, since the Shield was using Mephiston Red and then built up with Evil Sunz Scarlet, washed with Nuln and Agrax same as the cape. The dirt on the cloak comes from a FW weathering powder(Light Earth) applied liberally and then smeared using a damp Q-Tip. He's not done though so apologies for the messiness in some spots. He might be varnished, but that doesn't stop me from finishing a model--if anything it just means more fun work with powders and pencil graphite.

My DG are using XV-88 and Tau Occhre with Agrx wash for cloaks/material. You can look in my gallery for how they turned out.

Hmm, they both look really nice. I'll have to try both. I'll paint up a Deathshroud for both colours and post them up and see what you guys think.
Also, nicely painted Kanluwen and Vaxx! Your models look great!
