It looks like none of the Primaris SM characters can take this relic - is that correct?

DakkaDakka is really the place where you need anti-tank guns to kill basic dudes, because anything less isn't durable enough. |

Do any of the Primaris Characters have the option of a chainsword? The answer to that is the answer to your question.

Yeah - none of the primaris characters can take any relic weapons as far as i know. Good game design. Excellent codex.

They indeed can't take it, and it super annoying, same with many other relics. But the rule is crystal clear, we can only hope it will get amended in the future.

Well, at least it was the best Codex when it came out?

Captain can take power sword which you switch out for Burning Blade.

Sure. Burning Blade is trash though.

Irrelevant. The banner's what you want in a primaris army. Put it with helblaters or aggressors.

They can take Indominuts armor too. I like the burning blade for the cool conversion.

Ultramarine Primaris can take the Sanctic Halo, and it gets you a 3+ and another psychic deny. That's pretty solid too, depending on your opponent.
I don't see the Standard as all that impressive, unless you're hardcore castling with a whole pack of hellblasters. Its only a an extra 17% chance of getting a death shot off, and even with 10 hellblasters that's only maybe an extra 2 shots than without the relic. Doesn't seem that worth it to me over making my warlord into a better beat stick.

Yep...as there is no Primaris model modeled with the appropriate chainsword (which you'd swap out) you therefore can't take it. No model, no rules.

Seriously, aside from the bonus strength, which at best will net you +1 on the wound roll if that, really no upgrade. The -5 AP only makes sense for units with a 2+ save an no invulnerable save, and how many of those are running around? I'd take a Relic blade over the Burning Blade any day, but sadly the Codex only allows a small handful of units to take them, same with Combat Shields. I like to think the Primaris marines are still on probational status and simply yet trusted yet with the Chapter Relics, lol.

You can pop the stratagem to wound on 1+ and wound on 2+.

The main take away from the Burning Blade, like the Axe Of Medusa, is mostly the cheap buy-in. If you only bought the Power Sword, you quickly made the dude wound better and ignore any 3+ save (the 2+ will likely have the Invul somewhere).
It's mostly trash, but it isn't like you pay more than a Power Fist if you weren't going after multi-wound models.
