Hi,

Considering an add on to my CSM army. Thinking of buying the Start Collecting: Deathwatch kit and turning the regular marine models into Chaos Chosen, while the Dread will be turned into a Helbrute (of course). How close in size is the Helbrute thunder hammer to the "regular" size thunder hammer? Thinking of taking a thunder hammer from the Deathwatch marines and altering it to work with the Helbrute.

Thanks

The original model was...much larger. It was as large on the dreadnought as a thunder hammer would be on a marine.

It's a tiny pic but shows it a bit.

Here's a larger view:

That looks awesome! Much more imposing than the sense I get from pics of the current model, and definitely makes a marine thunder hammer seem insufficient.

Hmmmm.

Perhaps I will just have to scratchbuild something, or leave the TH out and instead go with converting for a power scourge

The power scourge is a great idea if you know you're engaging infantry. Bonus attacks is always good - I'll be trying to rig one up sometime as an option.

I'm too much of a sucker for the rule of cool when it comes to modelling

So trying to come up with a sweet way of using the extra (and very nicely sculpted) bits from the Deathwatch kit-can't use the TH on infantry CSM. Maybe just as basing material, or perhaps integrating them into the Power Scourge, as if the Hellbrute has fused with other weapons lying around during its corruption from a Dread...

A piece of round plastic tubing with card caps on the ends could make an easy cartoony looking mallet. Or you could do the same with rectangular tubing to make one more like the one shown
