We are going to play a fun game of 40K big boy toys.

its ofc 2nd edtion rules but besides that we have been throwing around some ideas.

1. Each person has a limit of 2000 points. That is about enough for a big titan, 1 scout titan and 1 super heavy or 1 big titan and 2 super heavies, etc You can round out your list with Leman Russ, Landraiders, etc.....just actual tanks....no walkers.

2 first idea is to give every unit a deck card (say King of Clubs is my Revenant Titan) . A second deck is matched up and a card drawn. So no turns, no psychics, just moving , shooting and CC and your unit can activate when the card is drawn from the 2nd deck.

3 Targets are noted on a chip. All tanks go in 1 bag, Super Heavies/Knight Titans in another bag and Leviathans and Titans in a 3rd bag. When you activate your unit.....you draw 1 chip from all 3 bags and you must target only those 'priority orders' for that turn.

4 start out turn 1 with only tanks on the board, turn 2 bring in super heavies/knight titans, turn 3 bring in scout titans and turn 4 bring in the main titans.

the Board is length ways and measures 12' x 6'

So what are your suggestions for a quick match like this (figure about 2.5 hours for 6 players) from the above or your own ideas.

What would be the best game options?

Don't do this. It completely negates the point of having a game if you don't even get to choose what you do with your units.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

If you bring the Titans out last and the tanks first, it's doubtful anyone will have enough time to wreck the titans. I personally would think that it'd be far more engaging if the Titans come out first - they have to be the "iron men" to last the entire battle as they get continuously peppered by the smaller units.

I'd consider reversing the order - Titans arrive first turn, Scouts 2nd turn, Knights & other superheavies 3rd turn. maybe have the Titans arrive at (long) deployment edges, Scouts 2' in from edge, Knights/Superheavies 4' in from the edge.

non-superheavy Tanks should probably be there from the start, but since they're likely to get destroyed quickly, perhaps they should have some respawning mechanism so the big guys always have something to shoot at and be shot by.

It never ends well

I agree...we were just brainstorming for our next game.

Thanks both for your perspective.....will pass it along to the others
