Easy and fun to paint army, only 32 models. I love the look of the new Deathguards.

Mortarion as a centerpiece of course, with 2 Deamon Princes as bodyguards and 2 units of Plague Drones and a full Blight-Hauler trinity as support.

Then some plague marines either holding objectives or moving forward slowly like a tide of death and decay.

Pretty fast and mobile for a Deathguard list

Its not deathguard because of the plague drones!! you lose all your strats etc!!

Use Chaos spawn instead!! cheaper as well.

I guess Spawns will do a similar job, not as tough or fast but a fair amount more damagy.

I could also replace the two Plague Drone units and the fourth unit of Plague Marines for 2 Foetid Bloat-Drones or 2 Plagueburst Crawler. Maybe one of each.

Not convinced the pandemic staff is worth the CP.

Plague drones are in the codex and they are way better than spawns. I use them all the time.

But they don't have the Death Guard keyword, even in the Codex.

Doesn't matter if you run mainly poxwalker spam and/or just do summoning stuff in open/narrative play, but the Plague Marine list above presumably wants that sweet 18" rapid fire.

Or one could simply put the Drones with the Haulers (they don't care about Legion traits) and a cheap HQ (starter box sorcerer?) into a separate Outrider Detachment.

my opionion...if you wanna play so much plagues on foot i suggest you play 1 single unit, 15-20 men, you can screen them with poxwalkers and or cultists and use on them cloud of flyes, supported by psionic (blade of putrescence+VOTLW ) they become hard hitters, bloated drones are great with Mortarion+2 princes flying around, 426 of mephitic well...i m not sure it worth.

Move a prince, the drones, and the blight haulers to an outrider detachment so the main detachment can keep it's rules.

Stratagems for the army, legion trait it has to be the detachment the units are in. Your current set up loses you those bonuses on your plague marines which is a pretty big deal.

Just wanted to say the picture really helps. I’m no chaos expert, but they tend to fly through Cp’s very fast. I think as a general rule of thumb, you want to have a screen in 8th edition as well.

I need an extra HQ to be able to do that, Mortarion isnt HQ :(

i tried a list similar to this, screen the big blob of PM's with cultists and pox, use cloud of flies stratagem on them and pump up poxes now is opponenet target poxes he have t5 and -1 to hit and if target cultists you get back poxes with stratagem, and Pm's are impossible to hit, Morty and one/two Dp's pressing forward, that list for me works better with 3 plague drones instead haulers.

Interesting list, a lot more infantry, the plague marines will be difficult to kill but are also very slow and cumbersome as a close combat unit.

I could certainly see this list working against some opponents but also failing hard against other lists like maneuverable powerful shooty list.

Also because of chapter approved your 5 man PM squad with 2 blight launchers and plasma champ are now 118 pts. PMs are 17 pts each and blight launchers are 10 pts each now. You have more points to play with c:

indeed that's why i play bloated drones instead of haulers, pretty more dangerous, btw the list isn't so slow, i have 6 pieces flying and moving 10+, usually who play that kind of list also have a way to get warptime so you have a bigger threat in Mortarion.

Oh man, yeah, Warptime on mortarion sounds like a really boss idea.
