Woof?

So I went on a hiatus from 40k for a bit, looking at gw website occasionally to see what’d come out but I didn’t make a decision to play again until Christmas, when I was shopping and impulsively picked up know no fear, because the models looked cool and the price didn’t seem too high, so I bought it, and here I am with the nurgle side (can’t stand primaris so got rid of them) and the chaos side of dv, as well as a bit of money I’m allowing myself to spend on stuff. So I’ve come up with a 500 (482 if my brain is functioning properly) list just to see how they play against my friends space wolf army. So without further rambling, here’s the list (going by index by the way, just so it’s easier and cos neither my friend nor I really mind the lack of extra rules)

Lord of contagion with plague reaper (145)
Nurgling bases x5 (100)
Helbrute with multi Melta and helbrute fist (139)
Plague marines x5 with plasma gun (98)

Now because I bought first strike I don’t have the proper rulebook so I don’t know how allies and death guard work but I’m under the impression I can still use plague marines as troops it’s just the nurgling don’t count as death guard or something. Thanks for your time c and c and also help is very welcome

If no one else responds by the time I'm home tonight I'll try and help a guy out; Looks like a reasonable start though

So I’ve been thinking and when I put my army together, believe it or not there weren’t many models, with a total of 12 bases for 500pts, which I thought was a bit strange, so instead of the 5 bases of nurglings I reckon I’ll run a unit of 10 poxwalkers and a unit of 10 cultists with autoguns and a heavy stubber. Is this a good idea or not worth it?

Hey brother!

Well the first thing I would recommend is hooking up the Death Guard codex. It’s not too pricey, a great read and will have vital rules you will need

But your off to a good start if you are playing friendly or semi competitive games with your friends.

Pox walkers and cultists are great but in bigger numbers for the cultists at least.

If you can get a hold of a daemon prince with wings that’s the 2nd purchase to make imo

The codex has all kinds of goodies from relics to psychic to stratagems that you will really need

Ovechkin8 has some great suggestions; the codex and Daemon Prince are 2 great investments.

Substituting 5 bases for 20 for some board presence makes good sense to me!! those nurglings will still be useful later though for cheap objective camping and unlocking command points via cheap battalions
