Hi all,

I have never ventured into AoS, the heartbreak of Old World destruction was too much for me.
But I never got rid of all my stuff, as I’d lovingly spent years building and painting this up.

My question is, would AoS be suited for me?
I still play 40k, love the streamline easiness of it that stems from AoS. Still listen to my old fantasy podcasts (that converted to Sigmar) so I’m up to date with the lore etc.

I have big armies for Empire (6k), Vampire Counts (5k) and Ogres (3k), and wouldn’t be buying new stuff most likely, this was true of fantasy, I had built up to where I wanted to be (fits in the cases perfectly as it were).
But how big a game can you go. I’m thinking 2000 points in old money at a time, but how much use would I get out of units of 20 etc.
I guess just how easily does it actually transfer over, if using what you’ve got and such.

Let alone finding players, as the gaming group is out for good I think.

Thanks for any advice in advance!

on the miniature front you are good to go, and alot of those old units that are 20+ will be very good in AoS, it is not really any smaller than WHFB in army size, its just mobs instead of regiments. If you like 8th ed 40k, you should like AoS, not alot of differences. If you want a more "granular" game, you may not like it, things like cover, mortal wounds and spam are still very much present. I have found that the community for AoS is considerably less toxic and vicious than the 40k one so there is that.

The other benefit is that if you have a good group of friends to play with, there's no reason you can't play using AoS rules, but have the games set in the Old World, really.

The good thing about the more mission focused game-play of AoS means that even smaller units (like under 20) can shine in AoS.

Max units sizes also put a lid on the silly death stars from 8th WHFB.

Also, just get the app for now and you can check what all your models do. If you want to find opponents, there are some very large FB fan groups where you can ask around if there is a steady gaming group near to your location.
