Subject: Hey guys! Old WHFB player trying to pick up on AoS

Hey, my name is Shadowbrand and back in 08 I played Chaos Warrior's. After 8th ed fantasy came to an end. And I focused primarily on 40k. Well, I found all my old WoC. And want to give AoS a go. My models are all on square bases of course. And I'm aware my army has been reorganized as the Slaves to Darkness. I've a few questions.
1) Where can I find the rules for the army? I've looked around and even on the app. But can't seem to find anything outside of rules for the old Special and Rare columns and rules for a BsB.
2) They more or less play the same right?
3) I purchased the AoS starter set. I always like the Bloodbound models and will probably make a seperate force of them, can they fight with my Warrior's like an allied attachment?

1) if you download the AoS app you can search for their battle scrolls down load them and see the rules.
2) eh? I mean they are still stabby stabby but the game is nothing like what it was.
4) yes they can, If you wanted to you could either run a Khorne blood bound with slaves allies, or slaves with khorne blood bound allies. How ever you are limited in how many points of allies you can take based on game size. The easier way would be to either run a chaos army, which let's you use any chaos unit. Or run a Khorne army which so long as they have a Khorne key word you a good to take them.
Slaves are like a Swiss army knife to chaos which is why they are so great, they can take any god as a keyword and easily slip into their faction. For example my tzeentch army is mostly chaos warriors.

Where are they located? I've downloaded the app, but can't find anything saying it contains the Slaves to Darkness rules.

So you want the app Warhammer age of sigmar, and once you load it up you should see an option at the bottom of the screen, in the app of course, labled warscroll, click that then you should see a place to search for units by name, or faction.

You picked a good time to hop back in with "Slaves to Darkness" since they release the Darkoath Warqueen tomorrow who is a Chaos character that is explicitly setup to work with the faction.

Sweet. I'm stripping my models, because 15 year old Shadowbrand sucked at painting. I'm hoping to have my army ready to fight in a months time or so.

If you want to, that’s great. But it’s not compulsory.

Some people take issue with square bases, but AoS is a game to play with like minded people anyway.
I kept my square bases to play KoW with my mini's too and it is a lot of work, but rounds are definitely nicer.

I presume you know that this is a completely disingenious statement by you putting in that smilie. But in case new people don't know, I just wanted to point it out.
99,9% of players measure from the bases, as does GW in their events, and then it matters alot if you have models mounted on 20mm squares when they should be on 25mm (or 32mm) rounds.
In friendly games I think it's perfectly fine to play with square bases, but in events I'd expect to see a rule about having your models on the bases they are supplied with currently, or round equivalent if they are from one of few kits that's still not repackaged.

What issue could you possibly have with square bases?

It's not "official", but not really "official" just implied "official" as gw never said that squares are a no-no it's just that new models are on rounds and people are taking to themselves the job of policing the new status quo.

We have to remember that as of right now the core rules don't use bases at all and its model to model.
Tournaments enforce round bases and use the optional base to base rule.

There is nothing disingenious about it, and the rules are clear, you measure from the model. the base is not relevant.

The diagonal on a 25mm square is more than 25mm. This can affect weapon reach, ranged attacks, charge distances and unit auras, but it often is going to cut both ways, so should generally be considered a non-issue. There's always the one guy who thinks you're doing it for advantage, though.

Any point of the model? That seems really easy to abuse.

It is very easy to abuse, that is why a lot of people prefer base to base, but the rules say any point on the model to any point on the other model.

In general, the rule of thumb is that if you measure from one specific point on the model (say an outstretched spear arm)--you keep measuring from that spot no matter what. It makes it a double-edged sword for you to abuse it as it means that you then have to keep using that spot.

As per RAW - no, it is not. It s explicitly stated so. Anyway it really is not that important as this is the first rule to get house ruled. We're just rattling our bone-boxes here
