Greetings Aetare, This is my second attempt at painting this model. I had just recently gotten it. The first try fell apart.

I am not sure how I feel about this model yet. I feel it looks too dark and should be brightened up.

Do You think I should go for a third try at painting this model?

Are you stripping the paint between paintings?

I feel that this nice model deserves another attempt, but it won't get better unless you try from a clean slate. I would reccommend stripping the paint and then using a bright primer (white or grey) to give the model a nice even tone. A bright undercoat makes it easier to get bright colours on a model-there are lots of techniques that rely on this.

Then you can build up colour gradually with thin coats of paint so that each colour is even and solid before moving on to the next.

I reckon you'll have learned enough lessons painting this twice that the third time will be the charm. Best of luck!

If you feel you can do better then go for it, though in all honesty, it's a pretty solid paint job.
Maybe tidy up where I assume the ink wash has pooled, like the tip of the force weapon and the back of the left hand, but otherwise the armour on a whole is pretty good.
In my opinion, it's the cloak kills the overall effect. I never was a fan of the Forgeworld paint scheme with the dark black/green cloak and have always been drawn towards pale purple and cream for Thousand Sons.

If you do, I second =Angel= when it comes to starting off with a clean slate.

Happy Painting!

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

It's a nice even paint job, only thing I'd suggest is highlighting or dry brushing over the model: the wash has dulled some of the details, lightly going over it with a dry brush will help them to pop out again.

Perhaps lighten the cloak?
