Hey all,

I was playing a Tyranid player who cast The Horror on a Drukhari Venom that contained Kabalite Warriors. The horror leaves a debuff of -1 to hit and -1 Ld. My opponent claimed that the -1 to hit effect is active on the occupants of the vehicle as well when it's time to shoot, as the open-topped rule says (paraphrasing) that modifiers affecting the vehicle (namely, moving, which is the specific example the rule uses) apply to the occupants. Is this correct?

Thanks!

Nothing can effect an embarked unit unless the rules for the transport allow it.

So.. if the venom is hit by a -1 to hit debuff, that will apply to passengers as per the open topped rule..

Total nonsense. The rules for transports make it explicitly clear, nothing affects the occupants unless a rule explicitly says so. The Open Topped rule does no such thing, nor does The Horror.

I am a total 'nana. The Open Topped rule does indeed say any modifiers that affect the Venom affect the passengers.

I didn't believe it either, but the Open topped rule on the venom is really weird.

Actually, the Venom's open-topped rule DOES say that. It says that any modifiers that affect the model (the Venom, in this case) affect the occupants.

Just looked up the datasheet. Yeah, it specifically says any modifiers hat effect the venom effect the passengers. So any -1 to hits on the venom also apply to those it's transporting.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Well, fair enough. I should know better than to open my mouth without cracking out the books first.

My bad, sorry!
