Just wondering is this guy any good? He seems pretty good being a chaos lord with a heavy flamer a power fist and axe as well as being a psyker having the hamadrya and giving you +1 command point. What is he best running with?

He might have some uses, he's a combination of Sorcerer and Lord, kind of like a Prince.

If you're already running renegades and don't mind his Warlord trait, he could be useful as a Warptime caster with the re-roll bubble, or as a back field precisence caster, making a unit hit on 2s, re-roll 1s. I like the backfield roll better I think, but I'd probably make someone else my warlord.

Basically he's a mini foot Prince, use him if you don't want/need wings or the DP statline.

Agree with the above and the fact you could just take a foot DP for better stats and not many more points is why you don't really see him.

The comparison with a DP is not correct, for 25 points more than a standard sorcerer he has the stats of a chaos, lord plus 1 attack, he gives you a cp and he’s heavy armed with axe, power fist and heavy flamer. It’s a good choice over a standard sorcerer if you run a renegade chapter

Yeah, the only problem is that renegades aren't that great.

Renegade Berzerkers disagree with you. That is one unit that likes the idea of advancing and charging. Same with Zangiefbrutes. As a melee contingent in a mixed CSM force I think they have a place, but lack of access to Veterans of the Long War is what probably keeps them out of being top tier by themselves.

On topic, I'd like to try Huron with some of the units I mentioned above, buffing them with psychic powers. He does give an extra CP just for showing up, his weapons synergize very well with the Renegades trait (assault Heavy Flamer for shooting), and he's a Sorcerer and Chaos Lord rolled into one, for less points than it would cost to take both of those characters. I think if you were dead set on taking Renegades, Huron is probably worth considering (either him or Arkos).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700
