So, there are three Bullgryns with slab shields and Bullgryn mauls in a Valkyrie ready to drop and charge the enemy for the Emperor. There are three seats left. Who gets a seat? I am pretty sure a ministorum priest gets a seat for sure. Ideally, I would like to buff these Bullgryns, but if you have ideas for buffing the Valkyrie that would make nice air support for the Bullgryns, that would be nice, too.

Is there anyone who can help them when they get into combat, or before? A psyker sounds good on paper, but I can't remember whether the powers would be any good.

I was thinking an Astropath with nightshroud, I think?

The slabshield gives a nice save bonus, but if you build on it it gets amazing. A psyker with psychic barrier plus the cover stratagem plus slabshield is very tough indeed. An inquisitor can suppress overwatch, nice for charging Tau, and add smite and deny for pretty cheap. I've only run this combo a few times (without the valkyrie) but it seems solid and fun, if not super competitive or cost effective.

How good is a Commissar for a Bullgryn squad?

Priest with Eviscerator
Astropath (or Primaris Psyker) with Psychic Barrier
Either Greyfax or a vanilla Inquisitor with (maybe) a combiplasma.

Inquisitors loan out their Ld 9, not quite as bombproof as a Commissar, but pretty reliable. It comes down to how many points you an spare.

A Lord Commissar with the Blade of Conquest punches pretty hard for his cost, but he’ll cost you a Relic and I know most guys are running Kirov’s Aquila.

A priest is an auto include, but with an eviscerator he’s expensive and hits on 5’s, so I’d go axe, mail, or sword.

Seat 3 should be a psyker. There’s loads of great and cheap options for that.

That is a good idea, but with the idea I will be going with for the rest of this army will be using mini leaders for orders, and that means I won’t spend the extra command points for this, but perhaps a power fist instead?

I have posted my list in the list forum. It is titled “Storm Trooper Strike Force (Super Revision).” It has my seat choices.

The priest only has a lasgun, autogun, and chainsword now. AM characters in the AM codex also lost access to power axe and power maul.

Priests can still have evicerators.
