I can't seem to find it in the rules, but this has been brought up to my attention:

Can a unit that has fallen back claim an objective?

Do they count for the purposes of determining the number of models on an objective? (Let's say each player has 1 model within 3" of objective. Then player A falls back with a nearby model and moves within 3" of this objective, does that player now hold the objective since he has 2 models to 1 near it)

1. Tyranids - 15,000 pts
2. Chaos Space Marines - 7,100 pts
3. Space Marines - 6,000 pts
4. Orks - 5,900 pts
5. Dark Angels - 4,300 pts
6. Necrons - 4,600 pts
7. Grey Knights - 3,200 pts
8. Eldar - 3,400 pts
9. Blood Angels - 3,200 pts
10. Chaos Daemons - 3,200 pts
11. Tau Empire - 3,000 pts
12. Space Wolves - 2,400 pts

As far as I know, there's nothing prohibiting falling back units from claiming objectives.

Fall Back from 8th != Fall Back from 7th. In 8th, it's a strategic move to allow your units to shoot at the previously charging unit. In 7th, it was a result of a morale test that you failed and didn't have the unit wiped out.

Yes it can. Nothing says otherwise.

Claiming an objective only deals with how many models are near the said objective.

Falling back does not prohibit you from counting the models that have fallen back towards that said unit count.
