I just bought some sisters of silence models on a whim and am wondering what people think of the three varieties. I only have the five models, no transports and no real plans to get more unless they are real good. The prosectors are the cheapest and have an ability to target psyker characters from 24 inches but only use basic boltguns. And the grenades. Vigilators have an excelent melee weapon at +1 S AP-3 D D3 but the unit really isn't built for close combat at S3 and T3 and W1, though against psykers they do get a reroll to wound. The Witchseekers are pricey but each comes with a flamer getting 5D6 auto hits with five models but has a range of 8" and that is effectively melee range at that point. Thoughts?

The other considerations are what are you paying points wise for sisters, bolter sisters are avle to bypass charictor limitations but are only carrying bolters so against non psykers they are still stuck with the mediocre bolter stats.
Vigilators for a squad of 5 have 11 s4 -3AP d3D attacks, they are very situational butbthey can do work against anything, thry tend to make a good counter charge unit, I like 2 squads in a rhino as they can really mess up a psykic heavy army but still pull some weight against decent armour no inv units, even against units with inv that d3 damage makes a mess of multiwound or disgustingly OP resilience.

I have 10 with swords and 5 with flamers. I use them in a vanguard with Celestine and a rhino.
I put 5 sword ones and 5 flamers one in the rhino and they folow celestine and my Custodes bikers.
Tje other 5 sword ones normally footslog behind my custodes. People always ignore them.

Well according to the new beta rules I can't take a single unit of sister of silence with out spending a command point. Crap. Hopefully they will be put into a codex I use like Inquistion before these beta rules are made official.

The models are really nice looking and I wish they were included in the Custodes Codex as part of the Talons of the Emprah. Methinks the rules and points will be tweeked before official, but it may take time. I see no updates on the horizon for these beauties.

A quick read of the new rules means you need to take 3 units of sisters or 3 assassins, but don't need a HQ, correct?
But you still can take cheap HQ, 2 cheap elites and 1 sister squad or 1 assassin, correct?

Thanks Crimson. That helps. It's a pretty big nerf and limits the sisters/assassins. Automatically Appended Next Post: Not that sisters were that good anyway lol. But for those Cullexus, yes.

I was going to take either a Vanguard with an inquistor three acolytes and a unit of SOS or a supreme command detachment with three inquistors and a unit of SOS. At least Celestine can be worth the 1 command point it would cost to take her, justifing it for the SOS is much harder.

So SoS have the Astra Telepathica keyword. You could take them in a Vanguard with Primaris Psykers (HQ) and Wyrdvanes/Astropaths (fellow Elites).
