There was almost next to no GW (not forge world) 40k news at WF this weekend and I'm confused. The only 40k info we got was a 3d render of a SoB. Although I would have loved for GW to push Orks and show the hell out of an awesome army (i know a lot of people prayed for an Ork reveal even if they weren't Ork players) I figured this wouldn't happen. However, at the very least I would have expected them to show off the new Knight model. I'm confused why they didn't push 40k much this weekend and just leaked maybe 1 or 2 units for up comming codecies (not even a HQ info and that book goes up next week). Was wondering what people think and why gw didn't show off much of any 40k?

Well, how much AoS did they show last year when 8th edition 40K was announced? (Admittedly I don't know, but I'd think for several months 40K had most of the screen time.)

suggests to me eaither we've not got anything coming soon. or GW just doesn't wanna give off any suprises just yet (they might not wanna risk sales of their IK codex if say..June'll see a lemen russ model coming out)

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

I have looked over at the Sigma schedule recently a bit enviously, the amount of new models they've been getting - hell, new armies! But the wheel turns, and soon enough it'll be 40k models' time in the sun again.

I'm not excited about an AoS new edition at all. That means the last codices (SW, Orks, GSC) are probably being pushed to late summer/early autumn. There just aren't enough weekends to fit any of those before the AoS release in June.

I would really have hoped they said something about Orks because they teased the ork(?) teef last week. And they specifically said here's a teaser if you can't wait until the weekend.

The reason is because they want the focus to be aos to the point of not really discussing 40k and don't think it'll have a negative impact on 40k players.

Ork players everywhere are pissed. Every group I'm in is lamenting the lack of news.

And after the codices for Orks and SW, what's next for 40k?
I guess we'll see a new edition afterwards.

...which is exactly what’s going on here.

Having a few months of AoS-only while they have their time in the sun (with a new edition, no less) leads to 40k players considering splashing out on the New Shiny in AoS while 40k releases are in famine.

It’s not an evil conspiracy, it’s just a reasonable sales tactic to get people to cross over into AoS and start a new army (and it works the other way too when 40k is on song and AoS is on the backburner).

If you don’t want to be the victim of the sales tactic, save up for a couple of months while AoS is doing their thing then spend bigger when 40k comes back into the limelight.

There are still 2 codexes to come out that were announced.
Why would there be Ork news?

Would be good time to reveal next 3 armies. At least that way orks would know do we have max 4 codex in between to wait or possibly up to 7 or even more.

Because Orks deserve it and other armies that are waiting don't?
Again, there is no reason to believe GW would reveal codex orders before the current set of reveals have released. This is just you being salty because your not being treated special.

I went on Saturday.

First the good, Titanicus looked amazing and was being shown off really well.

The bad:
The FW queue wasn't organised at all, was much better last year.
No information or cabinets for the new Knights, even when painted models have already been shown on Youtube

Ah yes because I would have liked them to release next 3 codex(notice the plural, *3*. Three. THREE AS IN NOT ONE!) means I just want orks being treated special.

Little bit of reading comprehension wouldn't go amiss.

Can't be overstated. While GW may acknowledge reality where they have to, their goal is to sell you not one individual thing but the GW Hobby (TM). This is not even a crossover thing, hoping that with Age of Sigmar 2nd ed being the big thing this summer 40k players come over and buy Sigmarines and spookies. The reason we get no word on Orks or Space Woofies is that of the current batch of three announced codices, only one has been released. And thie big one, the one with real model support (Knights), has yet to get a release date. GW wants you to buy these and then, when the codex you're actually interested in, buy that as well.

Orks, the next three codices after the current batch or Rogue Trader - none of these were realistically going to make an appearance at Warhammer Fest. The only thing I find odd is that the Knight that already got teased didn't appear in a showcase. I doubt the Knight codex will get released after Age of Sigmar, so it should be something they want people to get excited about now.

Most likely we'll start seeing campaign books. Even AoS took 3 years to get a new edition.

Also, I don't know why people are surprised that this year is weighted more toward AoS. For the last few years, they've alternated one year with a 40k focus and a few AoS splash releases followed by a year focused on AoS with a few 40k splash releases. Last year was 40k with a new edition, we should have expected this year to be AoS.
