White-Red-White vertical stripes painted on the front part of the tank. The marking is derived from the markings on British WWI tanks, used to identify friend/foe.
In this vein, each tank should also have a Departmento Munitorium serial number, as well as a name, which would be coordinated with the other tanks in the unit and used to know which formation the tank would be part of. I'm not super well versed in tank markings, though, this is just from cursory research.
I might go with a marking like: Abigail-238374937, located either on the turret cheek or above/in front of the sponson, for a vehicle in "A" squadron.
Other markings of interest would be
3 digit numerals, like WWII German tanks, usually on the turret cheek or bustle. Tank 212 would be 2nd Company, 1st Squadron, 2nd Tank. Company Command would have 0's.
V's and dots, like modern tanks. The direction the arrow faces indicates the company, and the number of dots is the squadron.
Colored shapes, like WWII Allied tanks. A squadron would have red triangles, B squadron would have red squares, C squadron would have red circles, and company command would have a diamond. 2nd company would have the marks in yellow, and 3rd would have it in blue.- I use these on my tanks.
