Hey all,

I've played a similar list with a Wraithknight and a few other minor differences. But from my previous matchup I learnt that Guardians/Wave Serpents/Psykers are allstars that get alot of work done and the Wraithguards are just the icing on the cake and can deal with almost anything kitted out correctly.

So thought I'd bring 3 of each

Battalion Detachment:

HQ:

Autarch with Swooping Hawk Wings:
Selections: Banshee Mask, Forceshield, Fusion Pistol, Power sword

Farseer:
Selections: 1. Guide, 2. Doom, Shuriken Pistol, Witchblade

Spiritseer:
Selections: 1. Empower/Enervate, Shuriken Pistol

Troops:

Selections: 10x Guardian Defender
Guardian Heavy Weapons Platform Shuriken Cannon

Selections: 10x Guardian Defender
Guardian Heavy Weapons Platform Shuriken Cannon

Selections: 10x Guardian Defender
Guardian Heavy Weapons Platform Shuriken Cannon

Vanguard:

HQ:

Spiritseer:
Selections: 6. Protect/Jinx, Shuriken Pistol

Wraithseer:
Selections: 5: Mark of the Incomparable Hunter, Craftworlds Warlord, D-cannon

Elites:

Wraithblades:
Selections: Ghostswords, 8x Wraithblade

Wraithguard:
Selections: Wraithcannon, 6x Wraithguard

Wraithguard:
Selections: D-scythe, 6x Wraithguard

Dedicated Transport:

Wave Serpent
Selections: Spirit Stones, Twin Shuriken Cannon, Twin Shuriken Catapult

Wave Serpent
Selections: Spirit Stones, Twin Shuriken Cannon, Twin Shuriken Catapult

Wave Serpent
Selections: Spirit Stones, Twin Shuriken Cannon, Twin Shuriken Catapult

I'd have the Wraithblades and Wraithguard w/Wraithcannons in the webway. 2 blobs of guardians + characters in Wave Serpents and also pack the 6 D-Scythes in the third. 1 squad of guardians will be stuck foot slogging but I'm sure I'll make use of them on an objective. The Wraithseer is the only non competitive option I believe but I just love the model and also think sniping characters with a D-Cannon could be fun!

Thoughts on bringing this to a tournament? I've got a less friendly version that has Hemlocks but would rather not go full fromage!

At my desk

Yeah for pure competitiveness you've not fully cheesed out on Eldar trickery, but I can definitely see this being a challenging list for a lot of armies to put down - A lot of armies are going to find those Wraithguard tricky.

Then the psychic support and Guardians on objectives just rounds out the list. Overall I like it.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

Thanks matey, I think I prefer this style of list as well as it means I don't have to do no funny business with taking a Aliatoc Airwing detachment of hemlocks as Iyanden Craftworld trait would be pointless (keeping the whole army nice and yellow)

At some point I'll probably have to concede to replacing the Wraithseer with a Farseer Skyrunner or Warlock conclave if I'm thinking of going abit nastier

I am sitting on 15 wraithguard at the moment and would love to make them work at a competitive level but there are just too many issues i've found. one being reliable delivery, webway is great but armies with screens can play around this easy so that you are not going to be able to target anything decent with the cannons and may not get a charge off with the blades. In terms of them being durable and hard to take down they'll start falling as armies have access to D2 weapons etc and no inv saves. In reality they fall to mass dice that is readily available at the moment.

The army sits between being struggling with horde (lack of bodies) and dealing with monsters/vehicles the wraithguard cannons the only anti armour but with a poor range that people can play around. 3 serpents is always a good base to build off and the guardians can pull their weight but i feel a wraithguard list just lacks the punch for all the points spent.

On a side not the army will look amazing so that's a reason to field it of course.

Don't you think that the turn 2 deep strike rules will help though now? Most armies are forced out their deployment zones to move to objectives and such. It's what I found in my last game at least.

I think with the speed of 3 wave serpents getting into the enemy screens with Guardians and D scythes should work, with abit of luck and some decent cover from scenery.

Ive also just ordered a sky runner Farseer as I've noticed it was either drop a wraithblade or have him or a spiritseer foot slogging.
