Are Nob Bikerz worth the points or are there better options out there?
|
"The space marine officer was waving and yelling to his men on the wall unaware he was leading the Squiggoth on. Stompy (the squiggoth) headbutted its way through the wall and gave chase to the terrified commander as he ran up seven tiers of the fortress, trying to close gates behind him and ordering men to cover his fight. In the end, stompy cornered and pulverised the officer in the heart of the citadel as thousands of orks poured through the breaches he had left behind." |

Without a proper kit, Nob bikers will be reduced to Index only, which for some people is a bad bad word.
Me personally, I don't care about using Index options. But the doomsayers will have you believe if it's index only it doesent exist.

No. They suck big time atm. What's worse they don#t have kits so codex is unlikely to be on codex thus no update leaving only gope for fw to give good rules for the kit they sell

Then the said doomsayers are/will be cheaters who decide to willfully neglect and ignore rules laid out by GW that index entries can be used if there is no codex equivalent.

Codexes don't take FW into account.

Yeah... it's a weird place we're in right now. A lot of ork units are people say will be fine are actually potentially up for the chopping block because they're FW. Why FW and GW have this hate relationship is extremely confusing to me... you would think they're rival companies.
In my GW shop back home they even ban FW at certain events because they say they're trying to show of GW models only. Like recently they had a big knight battle in the south of England to support the new codex but said no FW knights allowed.
Anyway, see what happens. The orks do have a plastic nobz biker who comes with the base box so it is not impossible that people buy 3 and then connect those nobz together. Therefore , plastic biker nobz do exist in a way.

I think for the most part people acknowledge you can use index only entries. Theyre prophesying doom because when the next edition comes out if GW keeps the "no model no rules" thing they might be gone completely due to no models (which is like, half the codex if you eliminate units that dont have model, or are metal/finecast which are at risk for being phased out)

They're literally one of the worst things in the index. Warbikes are better and they're garbage.

I think it would be more likely to see the reintroduction of a version of WYSIWYG and WYSIWYG rules where a model can be converted & played as a WYSIWYG entry if it is properly modeled to show such and such.

I could see that, though Id prefer to have an actual model for half of my codex (and the units that this would apply to are actually good units too)

Every box of Warbikes comes with the option to make a Nob Biker, I can't see them disappearing without new models myself.

Doesn't Forge World still sell them?
But gw doesn#t put fw models on codex. Thus rules would be in fw book

I'm kinda hoping that (even as a cash grab to print more books) after Codexes are complete, we will get more Indexes (v2, v3 etc) that can be used for conversions and kit bashes. Market it towards the more veteran gamers, and keep the codexes for the "out of the box" options.

Funny thing is that FW didn't include rules for Nob Bikers in their Index, I assume because there already was an entry in GW's Index Xenos 2. Same thing for Warboss on bike.
I was hoping that because of this weird situation ( GW rules but no model, FW model but no rules) GW would choose this to be one of the times they're inconsistent and keep Nob Bikers and the Warboss on bike in the Codex.
Of course they very well could axe them, and then FW might take forever to put out their own rules. I mean, they did sell a unit with no rules (Mega Dread) most of a year, and they only sort of have rules for it now.

Nob bikers are extremely overpriced. But playing without the codex is barely 40k.
Let's wait for the codex, they may even be great.
