Hey guys!

So, I have hundreds of little gribblies for my Tyranids that I would like to undercoat to make painting them faster. What is the best way to set up all of these models to make spraying them the most effective?

Thanks!

Set them up on several paint stir sticks taped down that way you can turn them and spray all angles in one go before you move on to another one. I did the same with 100 plus Astra Militarum

Wood or cardboard strips + double sided sticky tape.

Place your models bases in a line on the sticky tape, spaced as necessary to have no minis cast shadows on neighbours.

Bonus tip, after applying the sticky tape to the wood or cardboard strip, use your exacto knife to cut the covering film and expose more or less only what you need. if you space your models with a model wide gap, you can later peel off the rest of the cover and use the sticky tape stick again ;-]

Make sure you use quality materials under optimal temperature and humidity conditions, and do a test piece... doing an entire army at once, you really can't afford a screw-up.

If you're really looking to mass-produce, the paint stirrer technique is great. It's what I do for bases, and you can do it with a bead of PVA glue down the middle of the stick if you want it to hold up to a little more forceful handling.

Finally, think about a two-tone spray job, with just a light dusting from above at a single angle with a second color, followed by a heavy wash. You'll get some nice depth from the wash and a good contrast from the overspray and be table-ready after the paint dries, but again, practice a bit on a few pieces.

Have fun!

Yep, but seconded on the paint stirrers with tape or blue-tac or some adhesive which is easily removed.

The stirrer lets you twist and flip the minis so you can spray all angles at once - rather than spraying in 2-3 steps.

Turntables! Lay out 20+ figures (without bases) and spray, spin the turntable 120 degrees and spray again, spin 120 degrees and spray again. One side done. Flip the figs and move to another turntable (that the paint has dried on for a day or so is completely dry) and repeat the process.

I use a paper plate covered in double sided sticky tape (actually I just loop one normal piece of tape over itself), you can fit 20 models comfortably on ti at once and just spray from all around.

You love the T-Rex. Its both a hero and a Villain in the first two movies. It is the "king" of dinosaurs. Its the best. You love your T-rex.
Then comes along the frakking Spinosaurus who kills the T-rex, and the movie says "LOVE THIS NOW! HE IS BETTER" But...in your heart, you love the T-rex, who shouldn't have lost to no stupid Spinosaurus. So you hate the movie. And refuse to love the Spinosaurus because it is a hamfisted attempt at taking what you loved, making it TREX +++ and trying to sell you it.

Tongue depressors with double sided tape. The very best double sided tape is the stuff you use for the plastic film for covering drafty windows in the winter time, but most double sided tape will do.
