I do not like GW's Tempest Scions, they just don't speak to me

So looking for alternatives...right now I am leaning towards Van Saar, but willing to use third party, so any suggestions?

Well, what kind of models are you looking for? Something similar to Tempestus Scions, but in what way? SpecOps tacticool, heavily armored Infantry, generic sci-if Infantry? What in particular are you looking for?

Honestly I don't know. I want something that looks like special forces with a sci-fi bent....I see them as infiltrators, so that is kind of the main thing...

Well, you might start with Puppet’s War, Victoria Miniatures, or Spectre to get a good idea of third party. Although that last one mostly deals with modern forces rather than Sci-Fi.

I think pig iron has some cool sci fi infantry. The link is just one of the types but try scrolling the site. There is much variation.

The anvil industries regiments have plenty of options for customization

Is price an issue? (If so you are looking at one of the plastic options - Maelstrom, Mantic, Warlord games, etc. etc., perhaps reaper bones, ultra cheap is stuff like EM4)
Do you have material preferences?
Should it be in the 40k style? Modern style? Anima style? (Etc. style wise.)

There are though masses of options. Check out these threads.

I am on a budget, but this is long term planning. I prefer plastic over metal (easier to convert/weapon swap). I would prefer something that kind of fits with y Cadians, but are still distinctive...

Have you considered using the orlock figures from necromunda? There's a vague similarity too them but they may be different enough to suit your tastes.

Looked at them, I would go Van Saar before Orlock

I second the recommendation for Anvil Industry. Huge selection of parts you can mix and match at your heart's content. Quality is amazing and the prices are also not that bad, especially if you happen to buy a larger number of miniatures at once. Can't recommend them enough!

From the description of the GW website the Van Saar seem like they'd be a pain to convert. With how they're designed to use certain arms and guns with specific bodies. You may to need hack up or replace the arms altogether to swap weapons.

Kabalite warriors could also work as their armour has a similar aesthetic to the Van Saar if they're not too tall but you may need to remove the spikes and you'd definitely need to replace the heads. Craftworld guardians would be in a similar boat but the gems might need to go or be converted to some sort of medal or badge.

Probably expensive, but the old Kasrkin were the best stormtroopers they ever did for IG. You could also look into companies like the old Pig Iron, or any of the dozens of companies making modular resin IG infantry options.
