I see a lot of Khorne armies using multiple Bloodthirsters and blobs of Bloodletters and then a sprinkling of mortal heroes like the Blood Secrator and Slaughter Priest. Can you make good armies out of just mortals? Like Chaos Knights and other Slaves to Darkness units and Blood Reavers, Wrathmongers, Slaughterbrutes, etc. I much prefer the mortal side of Chaos but most of the time I tend to get wrecked. I used to base my lists around Skullcrushers which is possibly something to do without it, but I've also seen and heard Khorne struggle a little.

Cheers in advance

I think you can, but when playing competitively you will struggle. As you throw away the option of summoning with you blood tithe. Not that khorne has a great summoning mechanic, and most of the time you will just want your regular blood tithe...but situational it can win you the game.

You can build a list (ex.) around gore apostles which gets rather powerfull. But khorne will always be max mid tier. And positioning and correct target prioritizing will be key to your success.

I am by no means the Khorne expert but I play a mostly mortal Khorne army and it is usually a solid 5/10. Not gonna win tournaments but for casual games it can be decent enough, and fun. It's mainly just stacking +1 attack and sending your dudes in but there are fun shenanigans to be had sometimes.

I tend to win games bc of objectives. My army is usually 90% dead by the end of the game where my opponent is in much better shape. Granted, I fight a lot of death players so I end up having to kill his models twice and even then he'll end up with most of them still alive at the end of the game.

I would recommend getting some Daemons just to use to summon. 20 bloodletters at least. Just to give yourself some options.

All mortals can be good but you gotta bring a warshrine. Like for realties.

32" bubble of 6+ FNP is fantastic. The Re-roll 1s to hit means you can take meatripper axes and gorefists for your Bloodreavers / blood warriors with no opportunity cost. Plus it counts as a totem for your Bloodreavers.

I have a 2k list planned out for my next army that brings all Mortal Khorne models and none of the high point models.

Aspiring deathbringer
Bloodsecrator
Bloodstoker
Skullgrinder
Slaughterpriest
1x 40 bloodreavers (meatripper axes)
2x 20 bloodreavers (reaver blades)
1x 30 Bloodwarriors (gorefists)
Warshrine
2x 5 Wrathmongers

Ends up with a HUGE bevy of buffs:
+1 attack (wrathmongers)
+1 attack (aspiring deathbringer)
+1 attack (bloodsecrator)
+3" run/charge (bloodstoker)
Reroll 1's to wound (bloodstoker)
Reroll 1s to hit (warshrine)
6+ feel no pain (warshrine)
4+ to hit causes 2 wound rolls (skullgrinder)

If you can stack that on the block of 40 blood reavers that turns into 200 attacks 4+/4+ (rerolling 1s on both) rend 1 and all the hits double the wound rolls. So you can expect 136 rend 1 damage.

@taleiel: you forgot your Slaughtepriest in your buff section, who I assume is taking Frenzied or Bronzed. Why don't you take Gore Pilgrims? You'd have to drop some Bloodwarriors or Bloodreavers, but your Slaughterpriests and Bloodsecrator get more powerful. You can hit your 40 Reavers with two Frenzied and drop their hits to 2+ rerolling 1s. You also can't rely on the Skullgrinder buff since it doesn't turn on till maybe mid-game (if at all), and by that time your Bloodreaver blob is going to be whittled down a bit. It's not very reliable.

A mostly / all mortal khorne army is a solid C+ list. You'll do ok in casual games. Against competitive minded powergaming though you are going to be a jobber making your opponent look good.
