I want an Imperial Fist Marine with either missile launcher or lascannon AND a GK Strike marine w/ sword & stormbolter.
But I don't want to buy more than 1 box or have to scour eBay for bitz

So here's a weird question: What is easier?
Buy a box of Tacs for the ML marine and convert the GK using the sgt bitz (I may have a storm bolter and GK sword in my bits box)
Or buy a box of 5 Strikes for the GK and covert the Imperial fist marine with heavy weapon converted out of the Psilencer or Psycannon (probably just extend the barrel like a lascannon)

Second question: What is most likely to sell/be of use later: The left overs from the Tacx box, or the leftovers from the GK box?

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

The weapons aren't really the problem I dont think; the real problem is the armour, since Grey Knight armour has a lot of detail to it that would look out of place on an Imperial Fist and it wouldn't really look like a Grey Knight without the trim.

Looking at the sprues though, there are shoulder pads and legs that could be trimmed down to be generic Marines, and likewise fancy Sgt bits that could work for a generic GK. I also have a tabard and some other GK bits that can work.

Tactical Marine box
Pros
-can build the Imperial fist w/ missile launcher
-more bitz to work with
-will use more of the existing bitz I have that have been sitting in my box for ages
-8 left over Marines will likely sell better than 3 left over GKs and spare weapons
Cons
-a bit more expensive and will have lots left over (therefore tempting me is the bitz don't sell)
-may have a lot more work to do to convert the GK

5 Strikes box
Pros
-can build the GK, including some neat severed daemon head options
-fewer left overs, so if the bitz don't sell, I'll be fine to make them into other stuff
Cons
-a good deal of work needed to strip the armour of GK specific iconography
-the Heavy weapon won't be shoulder mounted like a real ML or LC
-As GW now only sells the box as 10, it may be harder to find the 5 only box

So between the box being potentially harder to find and already having some GK bits to work with, I am starting to lean heavily towards just getting the Tac Marine box.

I went with the Tac Marines and I am please with how the GK turned out (ignore the Space Wolves, that's just how I've upload the picture on my blog)
