in the core marine codex the wording for successor chapters is "If you are unsure of a Chapter’s founding Chapter, either consult the background sections of our books or choose a Tactic from the table that best describes its character and fighting style."
The wording in the blood angels codex says "If a unit is drawn from a Blood Angels successor Chapter, simply substitute the ‘BLOOD ANGELS’ keyword on the datasheet with the name of your Blood Angels successor Chapter."
The thing that stands here is the Charcaradons have (to my knowledge) an IMPLIED founder, but not for sure. Their playstyle also plays very nicely as blood angels. So my question lies in can I do this to get access to generic blood angels units (I am aware named characters are out of the question)
My only other things to add to this is I asked the warhammer facebook page, and the answer I got was as follows. "That sounds good to us! If you're planning on attending an event with this force, we'd recommend double checking with the event organisers before you commit to anything, but we'd be more than happy to play against an army like this here in the office!"
It's very far from a definite answer, but I would like to hear other peoples thoughts, as well as their reasons for leaning one way or the other.
The rules tell you to look at the fluff to determine what rules you can use. Charcaradons are unknown, suspected Raven Guard. As such, you would probably be required to use Raven Guard rules.
That being said, until
FW say otherwise, you can run Charcaradons as a Blood Angels successor legally. You'll need to ask tournaments how they want to rule it if you go to them, and clear it pre-game with your opponent. You're losing access to all but one Relic and other named characters if you run them as CHARCARADONS, so it's not a strict upgrade.
In an Ideal world
FW would have made a list of what traits/codexes to use for their Characters, but it's
FW so we're lucky the books got printed in modern English instead of 12th century Portuguese.
