Hey folks. I played Tau back during third and fourth edition and have recently returned to the hobby.

Things that are familiar: nearly universal scorn for the Tau

Things that are deeply unfamiliar: nearly universal scorn for the Tau because they're now...extremely strong?! Also, there is now a...community...of Tau players? Like, people besides me who started to play Tau? What game is this again? Is this kill team or something?

Things that are personally insulting to me: WHAT DO YOU MEAN NO ONE EVEN USES KROOT NOW

KROOT RULE

FORGET THIS, I'MA PLAY SPACE MARINES INSTEAD

Or, you know, maybe it's just because I need to learn how to play again and because my Tau are long gone anyway.

Anyway, I'm building up a whole bunch of Dark Angels and am diving back into the game wholesale. I've been reading the forum a ton, and it's been a fantastic resource for me, so I thought I'd finally drop in and say hi.

The grinning ork emoji here gave this post a far more sinister tone for what happened to my Tau than intended, but it's frankly far more interesting than what actually happened to them, so let's just go ahead and make "stomped by orks who were decidedly uninterested in the greater good" canon.

G'day and welcome back to the hobby and to Dakka! Yes much has changed indeed, though some things have stayed the same ;-) Are you going down the Primaris route with your new Dark Angels?

I really love the look of the Primaris models, but due to fluff reasons, most Primaris can't make full use of most Dark Angel abilities, so I'm going to end up with a mostly non-primaris force. The enormous exception to that are Hellblasters, who are, unsurprisingly, a compelling candidate for the DA stratagem that increases the damage of plasma weapons. I also made myself a Redemptor Dreadnought as an additional anti-infantry option, and because I think they look pretty cool to boot.

I still picked up the Dark Imperium box, though, as it's such a bargain, so I'm going to have a bunch of extra primaris units. I think I'm going to leave them unpainted until I decide what to do with them. I have a strong suspicion that I will end up using some of them for Kill Team.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

IceAngel wrote:I must say Knightley, I am very envious of your squiggle ability. I mean, if squiggles were a tactical squad, you'd be the sergeant. If squiggles were an HQ, you'd be the special character. If squiggles were a way of life, you'd be Doctor Phil...

Oh bummer! Well I guess a mixed force does make sense fluff wise. And does give you a good excuse to include the awesome new Redemptor which I see you've already picked up
