Recently I've been reading a lot of lore regarding the Badab War and related chapters.

The one that stood out to me was the Red Scorpions.

Red Scorpions seem really compliant with the Codex Astartes and have great pride in their gene-seed.

How would they have reacted when they saw the arrival of Primaris Marines?

To me it seems like either they'd be fully accepting the Primaris (since it is their gene-seed plus more I guess?) or completely rejecting it...

Are there any official lore/background that mention Red Scorpions and Primaris? Or is it one of those things where we can only assume they've accepted it?

I imagine that they accepted the primaris because they were offered by the guy who wrote the codex they adhere too. The red scorpions are big on purity, but I doubt many of them would question their primarch. In practical terms the primaris super heavy has been modeled in red scorpion colors so that should indicate that they're very pro-primaris.

Yeah, the Red Scorpions are very keen on genetic purity. But I love the massive inconsistency in their whole 'We Love The Codex' schtick.

They are absolutely Codex Compliant as long as you ignore the whole inventing new types of Landraider, using Apothecaries as Sergeants, having the Chief Librarian as 2nd in command of the Chapter and having said Librarian run around with an attached Honour Guard.

Keep in mind that Primaris Marines are purer then old Marines. and are, geneticly, closer to their priamrchs.

IIRC, the Custodes codex implies that any SM chapter that outright refused primaris marines was declared Excommunicate Traitoris. You do not reject a gift from the Emperor's own hand.

A little bit of righteous anger now and then is good, actually. Don't trust a person who never gets angry.

Wow that's harsh.

One could argue that they had the correct interpretation of the codex by adapting it to their needs.

I've no quibble with the codex and I'm sure it has flexibility inbuilt, it's just funny that the Red Scorpions are portrayed as strict adherents to it and yet are every bit as laissez faire as other chapters who are portrayed as very codex divergent.

the exact quote is
Through the artiface of the Martian Priesthood were these warriors created. By the graces of the almighty Emperor are they given to you now. Silence your questions and instead rejoice at the honour done to you this day. You are handed this gift of hope by the immortal master of mankind himself, and you will accept it with sincere and solemn gratitude least you be taken for the traitors that you profess to hate" - Sanash Gallimedan Emissary Imperatus to the Hammers of Dorn Chapter

keep in mind this was the Custodes who being this directly involved in affairs of state is damn near unheard of, in this case your most likely reaction is gonna be "gak if the custodes say the emperor approved this, guess he did"

Kind of why I'd look for the door. Historically the more the Emperor is involved the more badly things go. Find a Space Hulk and spend a few hundred years hiding.

That's great for you as a reader of the Horus Heresy.

The people in 40k don't have that luxury, and frankly, to say that the Emperor's involvement was bad is VERY unbecoming of a Space Marine.
Loyal Space Marines fight for the Emperor. If you don't, then you are a traitor, and the Custodes would be absolutely right to sanction them.

Also, the Custodes distrust the Space Marines (they have read the HH novels ), so they're not going to muck about; "The Emperor's son and 2nd in command is telling you to take these. Take them, stop moaning and get on with shooting daemons. I've got another five Chapters on my list for this week, so if you waste my time any more you're going on the bad list."
