Hi all,
So here's a thing: "soup" can be fluffy, and in military history terms not at all unusual. Take, for example, the plethora of allies/auxiliaries utilised by the armies of Ancient Rome through the centuries.
I put it to you that "soup" can be done without abusing the background (how many Blood Angels Captains can the chapter reasonably second to random Cadian regiments?!), and still be powerful...
...well the last bit I don't know for sure! I'm by no means an expert, and I haven't played any imperial armies for, like, three editions, but I have some notions.
NEIL'S NOTIONS
1) Primaris Battalion supported by either an AM Vanguard of tanks or Super Heavy Detachment of a single Banehammer (or whatever)
2) Primaris Battalion (hey, I really like the new models!) supported by a Freeblade Knight from their home-world
3) Primaris Battalion supported by a Grey Knight Patrol (was totally a thing in 2nd ed!) and a single Assassin
What do y'all think? Rather than thinking about how to abuse CPs and bring the most unlikely combinations of the Imperium's very best dudes, how can we cover weaknesses of certain factions by bringing fluffy detachments from other factions?
Cheers!
Neil
