So I've been working on these guys for a little while now. Chaos kill team, using primaris as the CSM and genestealer cultists as, well the cultists (all with a little modification).

I'm pretty happy with the progress so far and i'm keen to get them finished. Next up is the highlights for the metallics, and maybe some bluing/burning around the barrels, then onto the armour highlights and detailing.

I'm just not quite sure what colour will be best fro the plasma glows and cultist shoulder lamps. Green like the eyes (which still need their final highlights) seams the obvious choice, but orange or purple could work nicely too (although i would like to use orange on the 'cultists' for some of their armour plates etc). Any thoughts?

*more progress pics in my gallery if you're interested.

Thanks, I took a while to get the build up/recipe to where I was happy with it. I’ll have to check when I’m back at the painting desk. But I think it was:

All vallejo and all air brushed over a zenithal highlighted base.

model colour turquoise
game colour falcon turquoise
model colour light turquoise
model colour light green blue
game colour blue and black inks mixed 70/30 (and thinned with flow aid)

The final brushed highlights/blends will most likely be of the model colour light turquoise, light green blue and game colour dead white. May also add a little blue/black ink glaze into the shadows for more ’pop’.

Great looking models and neat colors. I would, however, paint the aquila and the weapons a different color to make them look more interesting.

Thanks for sharing!

Cheers guys.

I’m thinking that with the correct highlights and shadows the weapons should look pretty nice. Plus I’m planning on adding OSL and weathering, so don’t want the minis to look too busy.

At worst, I can always add colour to the weapons at a later stage.

I’ll hopefully make some more progress later today and over the weekend.

I thought similar.
The wide-shot of the 5 Marines made me think "green faces". They look good close-up, but the amount of green looks a bit odd from a distance.
IRL will look different, of course

Otherwise, very nicely painted.

Cheers guys. Yeah, I did think I’d gone a little to far, it’s a little more subtle in person, but possibly OTT.

Any thoughts on the plasma glue colours?

If the weapons were black then a blue glow, if red then a green glow

Cheers guys. I think i'll be going with a green glow to tie in with the eyes.

Here's an update as to where i'm at now. Still need to do:

- detailing over the decals
- weathering
- base
- matt coat
- extra highlights

Cheers! I’m calling him done (for now). I’m pretty pleased with this overall, but there are a few places I could do more and/or better. For example;

- The base was a little rushed and isn’t quite as bright/contrasted as I had originally envisaged. I had also planned for a few additional details, like hazard stripes, puddles etc.
- The weathering could be a little more neat/tidy on the marine.
- I think the chainsword gore doesn’t quite work.
- The gold could have a little more shade/transition and could be a little neater.

Now to finish off the other 4!

OH-I Wanna get out of here

Good to see a new Hits project. I agree with the general statements on the showcase page about it being too much of the blue, as nice as it is. If it wasn't for the white helmet, he'd be 90% the same color. Gold or Black would look great. White would be solid too.

Regardless, looking forward to seeing the rest.

Finished the Marine contingent of the Kill team. Still have the cultists to finish up, plus a few extra members i've recently picked up.

Wow, top notch paintjob and weathering, they look great. Still not sold on the blue weapons but they're painted really well nonetheless.

I’m really not a fan of red panels on weapons.
It’s nice to see them blue, but because the marines are blue I agree.
Definitely well done. Great work overall, can’t wait to see more!
