Subject: Traveling to the UK for business. Looking for Alcester area gaming stuff.

Looks like I'm traveling to the UK next week for work. Not sure what my schedule will be yet, but this will be my first time going there. As a gamer for 20+ years I'm kind of excited. I know Warhammer World is about 1.5 hours from where I'm working, so I'm going to try to get there over the weekend if possible. Does anyone have any other recommended places to go around the Alcester area or UK travel tips in general?

Alcester has a hobby shop, and he'll be your best bet for info. He sells the usual small-rack of GW, and lots of models (non-wargame) and modelling supplies.
He's at http://www.model-mart.co.uk/
My sig has a forum of Coventry-based clubs and shops, but we're probably further than a lot of other groups.
Warhammer World is always worth the trip, especially if you get a couple of you and a table (cannot be booked anymore, and try to go midweek). If there is an event on, just as good.

Coventry seems to be about 40 mins from Alcester, so that's not too bad. Depends on how comfortable I get driving on the other side and what my schedule ends up being.
Thanks!

So how easy is it to get around without a car? I was going to rent one, but my wife didn't want me to and her sister and my brother-in-law from England expressed concern to her about it, so...looks like I'll be without a car...

Alcester doesn't have a railway station so without a car you will have to get a taxi to the nearest station (4 within 10 miles) or catch a bus.
A bit more info on trains / busses here -

Buses and taxis will be your only option.
Google Maps ignores some bus routes, so don't trust it when it says you have to change 4 times to get somewhere.
There is a GW store in Stratford, 'just' up the road. Stratford is probably the nearest train station if you get to go to WHW.
[Google says Redditch is a good station to start from]

Just found out they booked me at a hotel in Stratford within walking distance of the GW store. So hopefully I'll be able to get a game of something in.
