Hi and welcome to the wackiness! Okay, first things first I'll cover your stuff
This is a good all-round starting force. Alguaciles are decent for basic line infantry, the
MB is a
HI piece and has that light flamer that makes camo and close quarters troops cry, the Spektr is a great objective grabber and disrupter but the Grenzer is.... Not really a sniper. Unless you are getting into Tunguska mod him to have a basic rifle or other weapon. as a Sensor carrier he is excellent.
-Beyond ice storm (kriza boracs, hellcat, intruder)
This is an excellent pack. The Kriza is a monster of a
HI, although personally I prefer his
HMG iteration. Almost nothing stops him, he hits like a sledgehammer and just kills things through pure dakka. Dont want a
TAG? Take a Kriza. The hellcat is a good drop troop, but I dont use it much. Still, its a
AD Spitfire and can be really good for sniper and mook hunting. The Intruder is dirty. She is just too good for what she costs, and can decide entire battles. Surprise shot+camo+cover+range bands - you can get your opponent to -9 on average. And she ignores his camo and smoke to boot. Honestly this is an excellent model.
-2x interventors w/ fast pandas
These are the best Hackers in the game and you always want a Fastpanda with them. Just do not get too hung up on tha hacking meme though - if the enemy is not hackable then they are not going to do as much. Still, they make good Objective grabbers and can be used to provide support software if they cannot screw with the enemy.
-Clockmaker w/ zondbot
A good all round engineer. Use him if you have
TAG's and/or remotes. Always
always take the Zond Bot. Also a good grabber.
-Daktari w/ zondbot
As above but a medic. Unless you have a Reverend Healer she should be a staple of your list. Once again take Zondbots
-Extra reverand healer
Speak of the devil. The Reverend Healer is not a dedicated doctor per say, more she is
MI a combat monster that is also a doctor and a specialist. Be aware of her
BTS and that she is really slow thanks to being an
MI, but also remember she has an
EXP CCW and a not-too-shabby
CC skill. She will not handle actual assault troops, but she can murder non-
CC specialised models in a pinch. Also she has a Nanopulser, which when combined with her stats make her an all round fighter. just be aware that she pays a lot for this, but she does make a good alternative to the doctor if you have points to spare, or cannot afford both a medic and combat beast. Also she likes having Zondbots. Also she can link with reverend Moiras and bring a
BSG to giver a close quarters punch.
-Lunokhod w/ krazy koalas
Your struggling with THIS?! The Lunokhod is a great combat drone. Use the fast pandas to dictate your opponents actions in his turn or to hold him up whilst dealing with them.
-reaktion zond
An obvious piece. Set it up with Marksman supportware and mow them down. You can also use it as an assault piece, move it up in you turn then leave it on your opponents side for him to deal with.
-Vertigo zond (may use as a stemplar)
Remember your Spectre? well if you use him as an FOO you can surprise shot your enemy from behind with a marker light and then call in missiles that hit on 18's, ignore cover and put him at a -6 to dodge. Bonus round includes dropping them on clustered models or link teams and watching him sweat. Its a good model to use.
-Zoe and Pi Well
Remember what I said about the Clockmaker? All of that applies here but better.
-Iguana squadron
Iguana's are great light
TAG's. Send it forwards and use its integral repeater to hack enemy units from it, get free hacking
ARO's in addition to its and to provide Hacker defence. And once it goes down it becomes a
HI armed with a
HMG too! Rambo it and giggle as your opponent cant stop the
TAG.
I feel light in the smoke department, so was considering some Morlocks or Jags, but I don't have a good idea on how to fit it all together. Any suggestions?
Morlocks are 6 pt smokebombs with
CC weapons and abilities. I go for the
EM weapon for that chance to knock an enemy unit out of the line and make
HI/
TAG's/Remote's useless all game. Jaguars are good too, but the best is the Uberfallkommando. Those furries are murder units in their own right, ad have Eclipse Grenades for added giggles. A full unit is basically unstoppable and shreds anything it hits.
As for what I would get in your place, it depends if yuo want to go vanilla or sectorial BUT here are some staples:
-Bakunin Starter
This nets you a Sin Eater, 2 Moderators, a Moiras, a Riot Grrrl and Morlock. The Moderators are essentially cheap orders that you will want in larger games. The Morlock is a Morlock. The big things are the Sineater - an amazing
ARO piece that makes opponents weep and spend entire turns trying to remove or get around and can lock down entire lanes of fire on his own (
HMG+cover+Mimitism). mine has killed
TAG's, Antipode squads, all manner of
HI and expensive units and been named a no-fun model by the club. The Moiras. Moiras are figures I am in two monds over. On the one hand they are good and have that
ODD and
ARM 3, making them tough and gicing them an advantage in a gunfight. On the other hand they have a
BTS of 0, are
MI (and thus slow), low combat stats for an elite unit (
BS of 12?!) and pay for a specialist
CCW that they will almost never (and certainly do not ever want to) use. That said I have had some good times with them, and
ODD+cover can be a pain for anyone to deal with, so
YMMV. Finally the Riot Grrrl. This is the Multi Rifle version so not the best, but she is a cheap
ARM 3
HI with Hyper Dynamics Level 3 and Frenzy. Want to cancel the Frenzy? get a link team. She is decent, can get about and hits hard enough with that
MR and bar the Frenzy is good, especially for how cheap she is.
-Zero's
A blister of 2 gets you 2 low-stat cheap camo infiltrators with mines. Take them as FOO's, spot for your missile bot, lay minefields (killed Achilles this way) and grab objectives. Stellar and staple units in most lists.
-Taskmaster
Any but the
HMG. You have a a murder unit of a
HI that covers most range bands, has a giant DTW, Krazy Koalas and a
DA CCW with
MA level 1 (also granting him Stealth) and amazing stats. Essentially a Kriza Borac that is more generalist and less shooty. The Koala's also let him really dominate the board as they extend his threat range massively. Honestly I pack this when I want to hurt my opponent on many levels.
-Uberfallkommando
Like Morlocks but better. Hits like a hammer, has Eclipse Grenades and dodges on 21's, Mines on 18's.
DA CCW's all round except for the Chimera who has a Viral
CCW that makes none-machine opponents run screaming in terror.
CCW of massive, bonuses for getting them all into
B2B contact with the enemy, Climbing Plus, Martial Arts of high and I khol. Are also furries but hey, your playing Nomads right?
-Riot Grrrls
The box and the blister will net you enough to make the core link should you go Bakunin, and you want that core link (10 wounds, 6th sense and weapons that hit on 19's with
MSV level 1 backing all that up) as it will win you victories, especially as it has its own on board specialist. oh, and Stun Grenades. If you are not and want to go cheap then just get the Spitfire model, she is hella good for what she costs - once again dont forget that outside of a link she frenzies once she gets a kill.
-Mobile Brigada
At least get the one with the
BSG (Shae Konnit does a split box deal) as he can be good stealth LT alongside your more obvious choices (Interventor). Also the Hacker is a good 'combat' hacker to use when you really need to push to the objective. If you get the box then you can run the Pain Train link team.
-Lupe Balboa
A better Alguacile and can link with them for a cheap link team that does things, has integral smoke, is a specialist and carries Panzerfaust. Also has a pet dragon.
-Hollow Men
MOV 6-4
HI with G. Remote Presence. Roll up and laugh as your foe cries foul at your speedrunning
HI and their blazing guns of death.
-Perseus
A decent rambo with his own smoke. He can hit hard, assault and gunfight and is not too pricey to boot.
-Baggage bots
After seeing one player end his game with more points than he started in a tournament I think these are somewhat important!
Beyond this its your call. What do you want, how do you want to play, whats your end goal? And are you going vanilla or sectorial? Let us know and we can help you more.
As for killing Ariadna: Take units with
MSV Level 1, bring your own smoke units and be careful around camo markers. You will usually be outshooting them once they pop that Surprise Shot, and you have better equipment. Bring Camo and
ODD/Mimetism to really make them cry, and drop Smoke. Shoot out Antipodes and the like before they get close and lace areas with mines. Set up for an
ARO and let them come at you - all those orders mean nothing when they have to come at you one at a time. Sin Eaters are a great answer here as nothing they have can compete with 4
HMG shots in cover and with mimetism, likewise the Krazy Borat with his
HMG just shreds them. The trick is in drawing them out, or getting some units so close they cannot risk popping without being gunned down (smoke and DTW/
CC troops work well here). Have a gunline waiting on their turn then press them hard on your turn.
Good luck and tell me how it goes!
