I'm gathering the storm, that is, Dragon Ogors, and wondering what people think the best trait for a Shaggoth is, when not using a Greatfray?

I definitely like having the Tempest Horn for rerolling charges, but that's a relic. I was thinking lightning bracers for the other Shaggoth to reroll his hits, and the Blackened Armor for the Doombull (or maybe the Thermalrider Cloak from Aqshy for speed and flight?).

I can fit the Stormherd and the Brass Despoilers with Gors and 6 Bullgors (and a Doombull) and the Endless Spells all into 2K. A nice 2 drop army.

Thought I had replied to this over the weekend, sorry.

Ancient Beyond Knowing is nice, though it is a one and done trait, and only D3, so kind of feast/famine.

The "always strike first" trait, whose name escapes me at the moment (at work, so no battletome handy) is good if you wanted your Shag to kill someone/thing quickly.

I believe there is another one that increases the charge range for other units as well that is good too.

Overall, I think Shaggoths got some great Traits. I actually wish Beastlords/Brayshaman could get some of them.

At first I saw the Ancient Beyond Knowing one and was like WOW I can use that with the Allherd and rack up Primordial Call points, but alas, that's the Allherd trait which must be picked for Allherd. But I guess having that one on a lone Shaggoth, and a Brass Despoilers battalion, then the Doombull could be making all the Bullgors extra deadly.

After reviewing, I think for a Stormherd battalion, maybe that one which lets the hero phase move be rerolled is good. The Thunderscorn could be moving up to 14", plus running, and then charging with the Tempest Horn relic. That's pretty dang fast!

The strike first one is cool. I have a Slaanesh Daemon Prince (Slaves to Darkness now!) who I could ally with though, he's got a similar ability.

I made my first Dragon Ogor unit with the 2" range rend-1 war glaives. Should I make the other 2 units with glaives or should I give one or both units the double weapons for extra attacks? The rend-1 is good, and the 2" range is really good, but only 4 attacks vs 6 attacks. The paired weapons reroll 1s to hit but they'll usually be in range of a Shaggoth for rerolling 1s. The draconic crushers are 2 damage but only 3 attacks....they look super neat but seem kinda meh; wish the crushers had 2" range too since they're double handed weapons with long shafts like the glaives.
