I want to know whether they are worth their points and how many of their special weapons they get in the box.
Also if anyone has any painted in camo i'll like to see as i'm thinking if i get any painting them in digitalised camo.( too many tiny squares to count.)

I'm dyslexic and thus am bad at spelling and grammar please don't remind me in comments to my posts.
The flesh tearers really like killing so much. In fact they may love it more than inquisitors. |

They get 1 of each special weapon in the box.
Digital camo is a pain, I gave up trying to do my Scions in CADPAT

I can imagine digital camo being a HUGE pain, indeed! You might be able to lessen the blow with some airbrush stenciling, though.

They are the ultimate glass cannons. Drop them anywhere, watch them hurt something most of the time, then get blown away the follow turn. If you use them, dont expect them to survive.

They're amazing. The box sucks though because you are only given like 1 of each weapon choice. Automatically Appended Next Post: It's the same reason the Skitarii box is annoying.

Scions are an important part of my lists, though I find AM lists benefit from taking a wide selection of units.
If you drop them close to the enemy without support, they’re going to get creamed. If you drop 5 man squads by themselves, they’ll be taken out as a priority.
If you use LOS blocking terrain, and drop so they can Ideally see one target, they’ll do well. Imagine that they’re ambush troops. They don’t win a fair, knock-down drag-out fight. They hit from hiding (drop from hiding) and do so in a way they can’t be hit back. Like artillery, you don’t want your opponent drawing LOS to them if you can help it.

I’ve got an army list of Militarum Tempestus in the list forum. It is probably near the bottom of page one or close to the top of page two. I’m still building it, but I’ve put down ideal tactics and how to use Scions. Like people have said before, they are good as ambush, suicide troops, and, as I will add, Blitzkrieg style fighting. Fly your Valkyries, drive your Taurox Primes all up into the enemy’s face turn one, drop the Scions. Then you hopefully cripple the enemy, and they will struggle to eliminate your various armor and infantry. Then just deepstrike your non-special weapon Scion squads on objectives or into the fray to overwhelm or out capture the enemy.

I love Scions for my IG.
However, I tend to play infantry-heavy armies whenever possible, so I need stuff like Scions to take out my opponent's heavier stuff.
If your army includes stuff like Basilisks, Manticores, Leman Russ, Super-Heavies etc. then I expect that those would perform better than Scions. The reason is that whilst Scions have good firepower for their cost, they're practically guaranteed to die after shooting once. In contrast, IG tanks are pretty resilient and can wreck stuff from the other side of the table; and artillery can wreck stuff from the other end of the table, behind LoS-blocking cover. Hence, it's much more likely that these will be able to fire multiple times in a game, compared to the single round of shooting the glass-cannon Scions are liable to get. Finally, with an optimum range of just 12", many armies may be able to screen some or all of their important units from Scions.
