Summary of how it plays -
I would categorize this as a strong objective taking list with many angles of attack, the idea being you have both a powerful front and back line without any obvious targets for the enemy to pick on (along with "i am alpharious" warlord trait and "hidden in plain sight" alpha legion bonus) making it difficult for the opponent to prioritize efficiently. The rhino carries the important cargo of chosen w/ power weapons, dark apostle, and exalted champion, along with a defiler and heldrake and chaff moving up the board while the ranged units stay back as second rank fire.

Strengths - Bulky and capable with many threats, hard to shoot at, stubborn on objectives

Weakness - Psychers, they essentially negate your passive defense of "hidden in plain sight". Swarms, while the firepower is good it isn't suited for dealing with many models that can absorb the special weapons given that I don't have much small arms fire.

Any comments on the overall power of this list? With point drops all over the Heretic Astartes units in chapter approved it seems like there's a lot of value coming from formerly useless units such as possessed, chosen, and defiler.

The squad of chosen seem to be a really high point sink and easy to kill target. What will they do exactly close combat? ranged support?

HMM, Chainfists are not particualry worth it.
Flamers are also meh.

I agree with Demic here that you maybee want to cut down the weapons on the chosen.

It seems odd to have so many HQs in a single detachment. If objective taking is a huge part of your approach, find 150 points for cultists in a second battalion. 5 extra CP for VotLW, Slaanesh double shooting, etc, with 30 extra Objective Secured bodies. I'm not a CSM player (yet...), but the Swiss Army knife approach to the Chosen looks less like to provide something for every occasion than to fail to be satisfactory in any occasion. Everything else has a clear job to do.

I will mix what both critics stated: chosen are a point dump into a swiss army knife. While that is true that is also kind of the point, if my opponent goes to take them down, I get to choose which models drop off, also they have to destroy the rhino first so there is a measure of protection they get that way. Normally I imagine them going for a flank attack into melee so I can drop the ranged special weapons first and cheap stuff like power swords and by the time I'm in combat I have the expensive stuff still intact and ready to deal big damage. Also I have to please the chaos gods and keep things random.

The problem with the rhino is not that it does not offer protection, but rather that in a game were Knights literally skew everything torwards AT they are more like Cardboard boxes then anything else.

Yeah but that's just a shell, sure they can concentrate fire on the smoked rhino (given that's the position) but then he isn't shooting the heldrake, helbrute, predator or defiler. Something is getting targeted, but the idea is there is enough threats on the board that taking out that one isn't game losing. Same goes for the theoretical opponent with the knight, if I just chunk off his knight early he'll have more power than that on the board. Given all drops in this army are less than 200 points any single loss is tolerable.
