Hello.

Could use some tips/advice with my fluff-oriented CSM 2k list. This isnt meant for tourneys etc (obviously) or min-maxed play, mostly for friendly games, however a fun list that is never able to win is not that fun, so im still trying to at least make it "Playable" so to speak.

The only "set in stone" concepts are the fact that i want to run 4x DP's (one per god) and have some kind of symmetry (so each god has a squad that represents it in some way), everything else is flexible. All psy powers/allegiances/etc below are purely placeholder, i will adjust them when im satisfied with the unit comp.

Lo and behold:

OUTRIDER - CSM (renegade)

HQ: Daemon prince with wings, Khorne, talons
HQ: Daemon prince with wings, Slaanesh, talons

Fast: 1x Chaos Spawn (no mark)
Fast: Raptors (mark of Slaanesh, 4 normal raptors, 1 raptor with plasma pistol, 1 raptor with melta gun, champion with combi-melta).
Fast: Warp talons (mark of khorne, 5x normal raptors, champ)

OUTRIDER - THOUSAND SONS

HQ: Daemon prince of Tzeentch, wings, bolt of change, boon of mutation, malefic talons

Fast: 1x Chaos Spawn
Fast: 1x Chaos Spawn
Fast: 1x Chaos Spawn

Elite: Scarab Occult Terminators (3x with inferno bolter & sword, 1x with soulreaper & sword, sorcerer with stave & inferno bolter)

(note: chaos spawns in 1k sons have their own datasheet, so are separate from "vanilla" csm chaos spawn, thus adhering to rule of 3's)

OUTRIDER - DEATH GUARD

HQ: Daemon prince of Nurgle, wings, miasma, warlord, arch-contaminator, talons

Fast: Foetid blight-drone (2x spitters)
Fast: Foetid blight-drone (2x spitters)
Fast: Foetid blight-drone (2x spitters)

Elite: Blightlord Terminators (3x with axe/bolter, 1x with axe and blight launcher, champ with axe & combi melta)


This all adds up nicely to 1999 points.




Any thoughts? Suggestions? ideas? Advice?

In Lockdown

Well you don't have much in the way of units that can happily hold objectives all game - except maybe individual spawn which might hope to hide out of sight on objectives. I think you could do with some cultists to increase your model count and hold down your backfield.

Do you know what your sin is, Malcolm Reynolds?
Ah hell, I'm a fan of all seven.
But right now, I'm gonna have to go with wrath.

Good suggestion. We can achieve that by dropping the warp talons and raptors down to their minimum 5man squads, which frees up enough points to fit a single unit of cultists. That, + 3 tzeentch spawns, +1 default spawn should be good for some objective turtling.

Another alternative is to also replace scarab occult and blightlords with rubriks and plagues respectively, with some special weapons, and also field a vindicator. However i feel that the loss of deep strike potential + PM/RM's innate "not too strong"ness undermines that more than what vindicator brings. I think the "keep list same but fit cultists" is the best option so far.
