This situation came up in my last game:
I had a unit of Genestealer Cultists ambushing onto the board, and I wanted to use A Perfect Ambush, which is "immediately after a unit has been set up", and my opponent wanted to use Forewarned, also "immediately after a unit has been set up". I had two such units in reserves, and we discussed and basically agreed that if he wanted to wait until I had used the Perfect Ambush stratagem, then it would no longer be "immediately after" so if he wanted to use it as a counter we would need to simultaneously declare the stratagems, roll off and resolve them per the big rulebook FAQ.
However, if I just deep struck the unit and didn't decide to use A Perfect Ambush, he would then need to declare his stratagem on that unit or I could end the movement phase by declaring a psychic power as my next action and he would not be able to use his stratagem at all. So he was essentially forced to use Forewarned on the first unit, and then I could deep strike the second unit right on top of the smoking boots of the first and use A Perfect Ambush on them.
Did we resolve that right? If he allowed the Perfect Ambush stratagem to be fully resolved BEFORE declaring Forewarned, would it no longer be "immediately after a unit has been set up" and he would no longer be allowed to declare Forewarned?
