Posting pics of the special edition Officer's Signal Satchel that came with 6th or 7th edition, I think, rules of 40K .

Did anyone use their satchel or did you sell it off or stuff it away? It is pretty sturdy and has a decent strap and fasteners. I am not too surprised that it is still usable. Did you make use of the other stuff that came with it? The rule set is obviously defunct now but maybe you found a use for the the vehicle damage dice, the skull stands, the metal pins, or the ammo tin that held the dice?

It might have been 6th edition when this satchel was offered.

Maybe I should have asked the broader question of whether anyone uses any of the extra swag from the special sets when a new edition of 40K is released.

These are the Munitorium Dice that came in the special edition. They were also sold separately but I never saw anyone use them. Cool but impractical?

Maybe I am the only buyer that kept one. Could Ebay still be flooded with the rest?

Missed it as I wasn't playing 40k that edition.

I didn't know this as well.
The only special edition I have bought was the Space Wolves Codex Wolf Guard Edition for 6th or 7th. Never really used anything from it, not even the books
I took the metal objective markers once to a tournament and nearly lost one so they didn't leave the box again.

Used mine for years before I got a Battlefoam case, it held a couple of codexes, dice and the neat objective markers quite handily. Now that I remember it I might have to go find it, it's a nice bag to use in general.

I still have mine, definitely used it. Those dice rolled horribly for me however and most of the skull markers broke or snapped eventually in the gaming bag

I doubt most of the people that have one ditched it - maybe any included books specific to that version, but overall it’s one of those things that if acquired would need to be pried from cold, dead hands. Which is a good thing, IMO.

I am still not sure how to use the dice or the lasrifle power pack case for them. The dice are too hard to read across a table. The case might get used for my larger Chessex Dakka Dice. The servo skull dice stands might make good Kill Team terrain. I can paint them up and add parchment paper signs on the shelves where the dice would normally rest.

What other special edition swag has GW produced that is worthy of discussion?

I managed to get the Bolter ammo crate at the 2010 Games Day, great-looking product, fits a lot of codexes, would make a head-tuning case for a small force.

Mine's at home with a strap close to tearing off. I need to take it somewhere to get it fixed. A caution to the wise, don't carry too many books in it.

That bolter ammo crate looks pretty cool.

I think that the company that used to sell lots of GW swag was Bulldog Buckle. Were there other companies like that one?

How did your satchel strap tear off? Did you fail to perform the proper maintenance rites.

I have one, carried it around a few times but it mostly sits around holding my books and looking nice. I'd say the coolest thing about the whole package is the ammo pack.

Mine is still kicking and in great condition. All my dice, wound counters and such are in the pockets and all the books I need in the main folds.

I neglected to post pics of the heavy metal pins that came with the satchel. There are two pins: an imperial aquila and a chaos star. I never used mine. They are supposed to go on the front flap of the satchel where there are two holes poked through. The pin on the back of the metal doesn't fit easily through the two holes. You might get it through if you bend things a bit but then the badge kind of sits awkwardly. I decided to skip this step and not use the badges at all. I hid them so well in my stash of 40K stuff that I couldn't find them easily to get pictures for you.

They are kind of nice though and really heavy. They are actually too heavy to pin to a shirt, hoodie, or sweater. You might pin one to a thick jacket.

They are also a nice size. I added a few coins to one pic so that you can get an idea of the dimensions.

The text on the back of the pins is a copyright symbol followed by "Games Workshop 2012".

Did anyone make use of these pins?

My friend gave me one of these as a gift (the satchel, not any of the stuff that came with it). I used it a lot till one of the straps came loose from the thing.

You are the second person that said the strap came loose. Where did it separate? Was it the stitching on the back of the satchel?

Somewhere in storage I've got the Cadian rucksack from 6th(maybe 5th?).
Like the satchel it came with a rulebook, objective marker dice, the skull objective marker holders, & a lasgun clip shaped tin for the dice. If memory serves it also included templates. Couple of other bits & bobs as well.

I didn't use it much as I found it a bit narrow & more awkward to lug around & pack/unpack than the bag I was (& still am) using.
A buddy also had one that he used for years to haul Heroclix stuff around in. Right up till the day one of the shoulder straps just ripped clean loose.

I have seen several Games Workshop backpacks: One with Cadian and Volscani patches, one with a metal Tanith badge, and one with Inquisition markings. I do not know which rule editions or special events they accompanied.

Those might have come with it (like I said, I vaguely remember it coming with some other non-game-useful stuff) or were sold separately at shows & such.

I used my Imperial Aquila to act as a cap badge on a peaked cap for a quick and easy commissar hat.

My satchel is still in good use, my go-to for when I'm headed off for a game. Enough pouch size for two tape measures, two dice cubes, the lasgun pack (for fancy rolls or objectives if I forget to bring my normal ones), and enough room to hold all the basic rules I need for my armies.
