So this will be my last post for a while because I'm sure my ignorance has been bugging you all and I'm being (that guy). I go against death gurad with a knight or morty, Tau an occasionaly thousands sons. I have around 200 dollars I can put into my army. I had considered getting a shadow sword, or three biovores all of which I have come to learn will not do much to help me against my main problems. (Morty, canus rex knight, magunus, Tau) So what should I spend the money on to become more competitive?

I have

1 Hive tyrant/ swormlord
3 neurothrope/zoanthrope
1 Broodlord/ GSC patriarch
24 termagaunts
24 genestealers
6 rippers
6 hive guard
3 venom thropes
2 carnifex/ old one eye
2 Tyranofex
1 mawloc/trygon/trygon prime

GSC
Magus
Primus
Abominant
10 abbarants

The things with / indicate theat they could be ran as either of those outings as we do not play WYSIWYG

I do have a friend that will sell me a tervigon, 12 termigants, 1 ripper, a sworm lord, brood lord, tervigon, and trygon prime for 200. I dont want to buy this if the money would be spent better spent else where even though I'd get less ie. 2 exocrines or old one eye carnifex brood

Help!

You shouldn’t be worried about what anyone here thinks about you. Posting keeps the community alive and there are like-minded players here that share your interests and may not have the courage to ask.

It’s not “that guy” behaviour to want to improve your game. Don’t listen to anyone saying that. Your “ignorance” is where we all start. Old guys, like me, L O V E giving advice to new players, or just people looking for help.

Unfortunately, I have no advice regarding Nids. My generic advice for dealing with Knights would be to “Sac-Pawn” a cheap unit. Let the big bad charge a cheap unit, and then counter charge with your highest damage output CC specialists. Their Invul goes away in CC, and when you charge you get to hit it first. Anything capable of multi damage cc attacks would be my first priority.

That only works if you have enough LOS blocking terrain to have a reasonable chance of surviving a couple of turns of advancing... so maybe add more LOS blocking terrain to your table.

I'd recommend hitting up the GSC or Tyranids tactics thread. They have good advice there.

Along with the previous messages, my insight into nids is pretty small. However, I've seen carnifex do good things in CC. Especially with stone crusher claws. Definitely hit up the tactica threads as previously stated.

Versus Knights, anything that can deliver mortal wounds - hive guard with shock cannons and spore mines/biovores, stuff with Smite.

Dont buy the Lot. It's not worth it. The price aint that good and multiple footslogging tyrants are also not optimal.

You dont have the gaunts to feed the tervigons. For 1 Tervigon you need at least 40 termagaunts for it to be worth it. For 2 Tervigons i'd recommend at least 60, more like 90 termagaunts. If you're not willing to field many many basic termagaunts you do not want to field Tervigons. If there are no units of termagaunts to replenish they're completely worthless.

Since your Army ist so small you have multiple options from here. In my opinion you cannot have enough Carnifexes. Consider buying another 2 boxes If you want to field old one eye.
Build them with dual scything talons, bone mace, tusks and spore cysts, maybe one or two with scything talons + crushing Claws. Old one eye needs melee fexes around him to Work.

Genestealers are about the best melee unit in Game. They are brutal and some more could be beneficial.

The good old termagaunt bomb still works but only in Turn 2 now. 30 gaunts with devourers delivered via trygon put out a scary amount of dakka right where you need it and without taking casualties beforehand.

Some venomthropes are also something to consider. -1 to hit Aura is super useful.

Personally i'd just buy as many Carnifexes as possible but then again i'm a Big Bug Player and might be biased
