Subject: Should Possessed Chaos Space Marines have ranged weapons?

In the novels, possessed CSM like the Gal Vorbak do use firearms and can even pilot ships. Because of this, it strikes me as odd that in the game, as far as I know, they can't shoot anything. I know that they prefer to get in close and rip their enemies apart, but at least giving them some kind of pistol I think would make them more of a force on the table and not just have them be bloodletters with more wounds. I mean, it's not like they're powerhouses on the table as is. If GW doesn't want to give them standard weaponry, maybe allowing them some abilities like being able to shoot fire, which GW hints at in the models:
Those mentioned in the DG codex could be given the ability to spit acid or poison. I'm mostly excluding Great Possessed from this as they are supposed to be 'pure' manifestations of Chaos, though it wouldn't hurt if they had some form of psychic ability. What do you think?

Yes, they should have at least pistol-like equivalents, or as your picture above shows, flamer-like weapons would be good as well.
They don't have to be actual pistols or flamers - could be appendages that fire thorns, quills, mind bullets, screaming damned souls or other things.
They could even be optional upgrades - but they should be available.

I wouldn’t mind a new possessed unit with Daemonic shooting like warp flames, bone spike launchers or smaller versions of obliterator weapons.

Kill Primaris, Kill the Primarchs. They don't belong in 40K

I remember in the old Dawn of War games, they had a flame breath attack. I've always wanted that.
Once upon a time they used to have regular CSM gun options.

I quite enjoy running Possessed and in a narrative game I came up with a cool idea to make them semi useful than beyond a Khorne Berserker wannabes. (I kept their stats and points the same)
So they gained another ability, which depending on their mark triggered an effect when a model in the unit is slain.
Mark of Khorne - Vicious Demise - When this model is slain it may immediately pile in and make d3 attacks with one of it's melee weapons before being removed.
Mark of Tzeentch - Warping Implosion - When this model is slain by a melee attack, roll a d6 and on a 4+ a enemy unit which attacked this models unit takes a MW
Mark of Nurgle - Joyous explosion - When this model is slain, roll a D6 for each other model (friend and foe) within 2". On a 6+ that model takes a MW, if the model has Mark of Nurgle instead they heal a wound.
Mark of Slaanesh - Sensual Slain - When this model is slain by a melee attack, the attacking unit suffers -1 to to hit to all melee attacks until the start of their combat phase.
I'd quite like changes similar to above? What does everyone think?

Yeah, Possessed should be able to have Warp-Mutated Weapons or something like that to represent as others have said, guns shooting bone spines, acid-spray, warp flames, etc...

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

In short: yes, absolutely.
I think it is a real shame that Possessed have zero ranged capabilities - besides the kit coming with a literal "flame thrower"! It makes little sense to me that any Chaos Space Marine would suddenly forget how to handle firearms the moment he became a daemonic host.
For reference:
Possessed were introduced in the first Codex: CSM in 3rd edition, back then they could be armed with boltgun or boltpistol/CCW the next codex ("3.5") took away these gun options, but gave the option of a "daemonic fire" shooting attack the next codex took away that shooting option too, and since then Possessed had no ranged attack of any form
Maybe, one day in the far future, with a new kit and a new codex, Possessed will get back some sort of shooting attack. One can hope...
