Subject: 1,850 point CoD Tyranid list

Still having trouble getting an Imperial Guard paint scheme that I like, I thought I'd turn my attention back to the Tyranids now the the Cities of Death book has been released. Note that this list is aimed for a city confrontation (IMHO) first and foremost. ++HIVE FLEET MEDUSA++1,850 Pts - Tyranids Roster ++HQ++
Broodlord and 8 Genestealers @ 301 Pts Broodlord - Adrenal Glands (+1 In); Flesh Hooks; Rending Claws; Scything Talons; Synapse Creature Genestealers - Extended Carapace; Flesh Hooks; Toxin Sacs; Rending Claws; Scything Talons ++ELITES++ Carnifex @ 113 Pts Enhanced Senses; Twin-linked Devourer (x2) Carnifex @ 113 Pts Enhanced Senses; Twin-linked Devourer (x2) I was oh so tempted to take an uber close combat carnifex, but I decide to be a good boy and follow the tactica's advice and take two Dakkafexes. ++TROOPS++ 8 Genestealers @ 192 Pts Flesh Hooks; Scuttlers; Rending Claws; Scything Talons 8 Genestealers @ 192 Pts Flesh Hooks; Scuttlers; Rending Claws; Scything Talons 8 Genestealers @ 192 Pts Flesh Hooks; Scuttlers; Rending Claws; Scything Talons 8 Genestealers @ 192 Pts Flesh Hooks; Scuttlers; Rending Claws; Scything Talons 8 Genestealers @ 192 Pts Flesh Hooks; Scuttlers; Rending Claws; Scything Talons There's just something so... right... about seeing large numbers of Genestealers pop out of the city sewers. 6 Ripper Swarm @ 90 Pts Adrenal Glands (+1 In); Enhanced Senses; Flesh Hooks; Spinefists I had a few spare points and since I'll have six bases of spine rippers anyway... ++FAST ATTACK++ 3 Bio-acid Spore Mine Cluster @ 36 Pts 3 Bio-acid Spore Mine Cluster @ 36 Pts 3 Bio-acid Spore Mine Cluster @ 36 Pts ++HEAVY SUPPORT++ 3 Biovores @ 165 Pts Bio-acid Spore Mines This is probably where I'll hear the most complaints. The idea was to saturate an already packed board and fill any free corridors with spore mines. I went with the bio-acid mines to deter vehicles and for it's AP of 3. Total Roster Cost: 1,850 points
As always, any feedback is appreciated.

You know, it would take some play testing to show for sure, but I think biovores might not be too bad in CoD. Most barrage weapons can only hit the top floor of buildings and blow up. With the drifting of the spore mines, you could actually have a barrage weapon capable of hitting people on the first floor of a building. The idirect is usefull considering the amount of terrain, too.
I'm interested to see how they perform. Let us know if they're worth it after you've played a couple of CoD games with this list.

Ghaz,
Go ape-crap with the CC Carnifexes!
In CoD there is no Escalation and there is also plenty of good cover to protect your Carnifex from meltas/plasmas/Lascannons/etc.
Even more imoportantly, the missions in CoD generally force armies to move forwards to capture buildings. A Godfex will absolutely own any building it is standing in.
Feel free to take a nice big gnarly Godfex in CoD. I think it would perform really, really well.

Hmm, maybe an edit of the Carnifex tactica is in order then? Plus I haven't decided if I'm committed to Tyranids or not. I hear the call of Russ (Leman Russ, that is. Not Russ Wakelin ) and am considering a 13th Company list as well. It all depends on which list I end up liking better and which models I can paint better.

You know, I don't have my CoD book with me here at work, but I just had a scary thought.
Would a godfex get the benefit of the Strategem that gives a unit within the building the Feel No Pain ability? If so, how ugly would that be?

Medicare Facility on a T7 2+ save Fex....I like it. Even more so, to give 2 consecutive 4+ saves to cheap gaunts in cover. Oh wait, they can lurk for a 3+ save...that's even better. In a tall building, where the gaunts can be spread on multiple levels to avoid getting flamered too badly...hmmm. Only worth it in either the 'take the center' or Urban Assault (hold your own building, take his). Gunfexes + tons o' spine/termagaunts to hold your own building; Godfex, Stealers w Fleshhooks, Dakkafexes and a triple-guard walking quad-devourer-Tyrant to take his. Too bad Raveners can't get flesh hooks

Only infantry benefit from Key Building Strategems, so alas, no godfex getting Feel No Pain.
