Greetings,

Recently while playing a friendly game with multiple detachments, I was told that each detachment's CP was separate from the others, and that each detachment can only use CP it itself created. Example: Blood Angels and Assassins detachments. Assassins can only use CP that their own formation created, thus they start with 1 CP available, regardless of how many the BA battalion or other detachment may have. My understanding was that CP were simply pooled.

Are they correct? And if so, which errata/faq/CA put it into effect? The only things I'm finding are the regeneration restriction and the increase to The # of CP that brigades and battalions create.

There is no such rule. Battle-Forged Armies have Command Points, the total of which is determined by the detachments in it.

As above. Some “homebrew” solutions to CP generation have been to limit CP to the detachment generating it. Those are unofficial rules, but if you’re playing at an FLGS, those might be part of that store’s house rules, so would be worth asking about.

In any rule disagreement, it is reasonable to ask to see the rule being referred to. For example, if you can show the passage from the RB that Battleforged armies generate a pool of CP to draw from, you can prove your point, and they can’t. (As far as I know. It is possible things changed that I don’t know about! )

Sounds very much like a "House Rule" to me. There is no such rule in the actual rules (at least not yet).

Agreed.

The post above also implies that this might be some sort of common or generally accepted house rule, which I do not believe to be the case. While I've seen it suggested on this forum, it's not something I've ever seen 'in the wild' as it were.

Not my intention to imply any kind of widespread use. It would surprise me, to be honest, but *may* be the case.

More likely someone misinterpreting how detachments generating CP “per detachment” would mean only those detachments can use those CP, which is incorrect.

Didn't the Assasins have a special access rule denying them other detachments CP or am i missreembering something now?

Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

Assassins do not.

Sounds like a case of people not being clear on the rules and wish-listing, or using house rules at a non-house event. I'll have them point it out next time. Thanks all!
