...so I'm quite rusty painting, as I've been busy this last year and haven't been able to paint much of anything, and what I'm most rusty with is faces, and skin really.

But I happen to have subscribed to the L5R mini crate, so I thought I'd give it a go. This have been my first foray into it:

Two realizations: These minis are fiddly as feth, and tiny, and I am really rusty. Also, I can't seem to be able to take a decent pic Z_Z

This is more like it looks on hand, I think:

Nice! I like the subtle shading on the skin tones of the face. How did you do it?

Near Jupiter.

Awesome! The face looks great, particularly in the 2nd picture, looks very real.

Thanks!

Let me see... I basecoated the face with P3 Khardic Flesh, then washed if with Citadel Reikland Fleshshade and cleaned it up again with Khardic Flesh. After that I did two highlights: one with P3 Midlund Flesh and a smaller one (just lines, really) with P3 Ryn Flesh. After that I blended it a bit with thinned Reikland Flesh, and did a last thinned wash on the borders of the face with Citadel Druchii Violet.

(..I'd probably been able to put sharper and better placed highlights with a thinner brush, but all I have is a size 2 and a size 1, so there's that ^^ )

It's the very first face in a very long time (more than a year, certainly >_> ), so I'm really glad to hear it. Thanks!

Thanks. It definitely shows and blows my own three step meagre results away!
