There is a new ww2 naval game in the makings; Battlefleet WWII from Fireforge Games. It is set for release in 2020, moust likely true a kickstarter.
This will be a ww2 fleet game played on a 6x4 table using resin ships in the 1:1800 scale, but airplanes will be a bit out of scale for easier playability. The rules are currently in beta testing, but im not shure if that is internal testing only.
They claim they have made a good compromise between playability and historical accuracy and a "defualt game" will take a few hours.
Rules will cover a range of different historical fleets with scenarios focusing in on engagements in various theatres of ww2: Pacific (US,
UK and Japan), Mediterranean (Italy,
UK and France), Atlantic (
UK, US and Germany) and Baltic (
UK, Germany and Russia).
There will apparently be two ways to play the game; scenarios and open play. Scenarios limits the game to historical correct theatres and scenarios, open play removes these limitations.
There is not a whole lot of info about the game yet as it was first presented in april, but naturaly more info will come during the months ahead.
